Any winger would be a complete and utter waste of an overseas spot. I fully expect lots of this sort of rumour until we announce another completely underwhelming signing.

Wouldn't mind a centre, but 3/4 are not really a problem area for us. We could do with a forward or two, and some succession planning in the halves.

Nick Bradley-Qalilawa? A big-name three-quarter, that's for sure. Would probably fit GH's salary structure too.

Anyone else struggling to recall a single occasion when Wilson's broken the news of a major signing prior to their having heard it elsewhere first?

He's mentioned it on twitter a couple of times.

The problem with this is that anybody can say 'I've heard Leeds have signed a big name, but I'm not willing to say who'... Completely pointless speculation. If a signing is announced he'll then claim this is who he had heard, and if no signing is forthcoming, it will just be forgotten about, as he never actually confirmed anything.



If he has a scoop, then surely he should publish it - thats generally what his job is.... I can understand that he may have heard a name, and there might be reasons that he cant or wont mention it (confidentiality, loss of trust etc), but if this is the case, he shouldnt have mentioned anything at all.

I agree. If there were some genuine reasons why he could not mention the name, which is possible, why raise the possibility on TV! He raised the matter on twitter a few weeks ago so I assume that as he mentioned it again on Sky this week, the signing is still "on". He does have a pretty good record of getting information before other journalists and as he said on TV, this rumour has come from a very good source.

You would have thought that the name would have leaked out by now if it were to be such a big name signing.

Put it this way - I'd be very surprised if there is a 'major' signing. Major in my eyes would be a Jamie Lyon, Matt Cooper, Steve Matai type signing (I'm trying to remain slightly realistic with the names that might come to superleague) - certainly not a David Williams, MItch Achurch, Brett Delaney (although I really am a Delaney fan), Richard Moore, Darrell Griffin or Weller Huaraki!

True but we might have signed Achurch and made it public knowledge all in a realtively short period of time.

With our "big name signing" apparently in the bag for some time now you would have thought the players current club or one of the Aussie journalists might have spilled the beans.

I believe Andy Wilson's story although I think the definition of "major" might be debatable! If nothing comes of this rumour what about Keith Lulia at the Bulls. He's been very impressive and although still under contract for next year might be available depending what happens to the Bulls.

Lets be honest we have not come anywhere near replacing G Ellis , K Senior , D Buderos, A Lautiti so keeping fingers crossed their will be a big name on his way.

Generally I agree. We did replace Ellis with Eastwood but it didn't work out for him. I hope it's a big name but if so I'm surprised there's been no leaks. We want a centre but I've no idea who from the NRL.I assume there will be an announcememt when our season and the relevant NRL club's season is over.
