I assume the Warrington representative on the middle truck picture is Ben Westwood and the pixalation effect is to protect the innocents and prevent any unnecceasy motorway pile-ups.

Speaking of unusual sights, I was watching a bit of Superleague on Sky this morning, as you do, when the camera picked out an apparently famous face in the crowd. I think they said it was Paul Scholes (sorry but that means nothing much to me - I've heard of him but wouldn't recognise him) but I did clock the fella sat in front of him ....... one from our very own coaching staff.
I had been wondering why I kept hearing an Oldham accent shouting forrrrrward every other pass.
Still not sure what Rugby League can learn from women's netball. They appear to catch the ball and stop running .....

On a similar note, did anyone else spot Chris Flannery in the crowd during Sky's coverage of the Liverpool-Man City game this week?

Quite right too, it's an appalling sponsorship deal and an embarrassing one.

| I agree with KS on this one. Our game needs a sponsor who will deliver substantial funds first and foremost in return for being the major sponsor. The Stobart deal would be ok as a secondary sponsor in addtion to a proper one. As it is, it seems more of an advertising campaign on behalf of SL live on Sky HD. I wonder if Sky made a contribution?

Can't see any of the trailors having Nigel Wood on the side, most artics are only plated to carry 44 tonne.

I think he's right. I mean, I don't profess to be a marketing guru but if someone can explain the tangible benefit of a Stobart Lorry carrying a picture of Ben Westwood on the M5 in Gloucester I'd be grateful. Is a passing motorist in Ipswich going to think, Ooh that looks interesting. I'll head up to Warrington and watch a game.
It might boost viewing figures on Sky I suppose but isn't it really Sky job to advertise their programming?

No, it's now Sky's job to advertise Stobart. For nothing. High fives all round in the Eddie S. marketing department.

Exactly my thinking. If you don't like Rugby League you don't like Rugby League. A few trailer adverts aren't going to change that.
Stobart could plaster netball adverts all over every trailer in their fleet if they wanted, I still wouldn't be remotely interested.

Apparently, a majority of SL clubs voted for this sponsorship deal. Rumour has it that Leeds weren't one of them. Fantastic deal and free exposure for Stobart first and foremost, pretty good deal for Sky Sports getting their subscription channel freely advertised in this way, with the marketing of SL appearing to be a distant third afterthought in the food chain.
As someone said on the VT, if these 120 Stobart trailers result in an extra 207 punters paying an average £20 admission fee to every SL game as a result of seeing a Stobart trailer on the motorway then that'll cover the Betfair sponsorship offer of 750K. Can't see it myself.

| I would like two photos of the trailer with Ben Westwoods picture on it - so I can place one either side of the fireplace to keep my grandson away from the fire!
Ok then, as a night time trucker, covering between 300 to 700 kms per night, has anyone seen any of these trailers? I havent and that includes driving slowly round Tesco's depots! Perhaps we should have a "Stobart's Trailer Thread" to log who and where they have been seen.

I saw one on the M62....from a distance. It looked like the one with all the captains on, etc.
