| There really isn't much OOC that would make me feel inspired to make changes to this squad.
I don't know about the NRL players, because I've never heard of half of them, but the SL ones are an uninspiring bunch. I'd have taken Brett Ferres a couple of years ago, but I'm not convinced he's delivered on some early promise.

| No Darrell Griffin on that SL list? If the rumours are true, does that mean we're intending to pay a transfer fee for him?!

| Quote cheekydiddles="cheekydiddles"RE: Webb.
IIRC the press release was that he'd signed for 1 more year?
The other week it was stated in his interview in the Carnegie bar that he has signed a 2 year deal.
If true sounds similar to the last Bedsy contract when it was IIRC officially released as a 1 year deal, though it was clearly a 2 year deal (granted it is only going to turn out to be a 1 year deal when his release is announced after Wembley)'"
Re Webb. Most of the press releases I saw only mentioned him extending his contract with Leeds to cover next season which was a little ambiguous ...... however Peter Smith in the YEP said:
Quote cheekydiddlesThe 30-year-old full-back has agreed a new contract until the end of the 2012 campaign.'"
No real ambiguity there.
Re Buderus. IIRC, he was one of the now infamous 'Magnificent Seven' announcement that failed to clearly state the nature of any of the contract renewals and included at least one player (Leuluai) that was already contracted for 2011.

| Bring back Chev Walker ... Might as well maintain the policy of re-signing the prodigal sons. Hey, who knows, we might even get back Broughton one day ( when he's old and past it of course )

Griffin's contract runs until the end of the 2012 season, I think the sticking point at the moment is the transfer free - however that is just rumours/hearsay.

My understanding is that Griffin was told he was free to speak to other clubs about a deal for 2012 and beyond. He took that to believe the Giants would release him on a free and began negotiations with Leeds on that basis. It now transpires that wasn't what they meant at all, hence the whole thing grinding to a halt.

| I wouldn't touch any player on those lists. One slight adjustment could be made though, as Berrigan is playing centre for the Warriors.....
What the lists show is that you really are at the dregs by this time of year. St Helens signed Hohaia and Laffranchi some time ago, during the peak time for NRL player movements for the following season. If we're looking now, we're either stuck with the dregs or looking at players who are under contract.
Perhaps nantwich is halfway to being right if Hardaker is being groomed for a centre role for next season.....I'd rather take a punt on him than any of the players from either list.

| Ablett (from the YEP website) -
[i“I’m a back-rower, but it’s a case of doing the best for the team at the minute. Keith is out and when Frog (Brett Delaney) has come in he has done a great job in the back-row.
It’s a role I’m learning as I go on. I’ve been speaking to Keith a bit and Hally (winger Ryan Hall), who has had Keith beside him for a long time.
Whenever I go back to second-row I think that will help me, knowing what the centres want from you and when to drop into those two roles.”[/i
Would seem to me that he doesn't see himself as our next long term Centre option. Eh G1?!

| Reading Chase's interview with JJB in the latest RLW mag, I have to say that Chase doesn't sound like a guy who is going to walk out on Cas for one of their most despised rivals. He loves the club and the fans at the Tigers apparently.

Do you mean he'll leave if it's one particular coach or that he's trying to appoint the coach himself (I assume the former but I read it as the latter initially!)

| Chase is a bad move. He's not a team player. Bet your bottom dollar that he'd have kicked up a fuss had he been used as impact from the bench as Burrow/McGuire have in recent weeks.
The guy, as good as he is, is trouble. I'm hoping we stay well clear thanks.
Lincoln Withers.... I'm with Lionarmour. This new stand must be REALLY important to GH.

| I would think that, given that the current stand is falling down, the new one is incredibly important to the long-term viability of the club. Whether it actually impacts on recruitment remains to be seen, but it is important to invest in this kind of thing.
If this means we're the Arsenal of Super League for a year or two, but remain solvent and financially viable in the long term, I can live with that.

i don't like how someone could just roll over like that. The club have made good coin from it's supporters in recent years. It would be nothing short of disgusting if the club even intimate our cap spend/squad strength will have to take a hit to get a new stand built. Just my opinion.
