I can't believe the current England captain who has been consistently one of the best, if not the best prop forwards in superleague hasn't managed to impress him. Yet, a young hooker who has strung 4 or 5 good performances together has won such a prestigious accolade from him.

We've actually got a threat near to the line!! On 2 fronts as well. Firstly McShane's vision and sharpness of pass to the wingers, secondly his low centre of gravity and nouse around the ruck. Cunningham in his peak would damn near guarantee a try when he decided to go from dummy half, just with his raw power. Not sure McShane is in the same league but there are some very encouraging signs.



One of my main criticisms of Leeds has been that we never ever barge our way over the line. Peacock does it now and then, but apart from that we haven't really had anyone do it since Wayne McDonald. Bradford used to score hundreds of tries with this in their glory years, so it's good to see us carrying a threat near the line at the moment.

Ablett is pretty good getting over close to the line in tight situations

If you look at my post again, though, I acknowledge that he is raw and inexperienced. I did speak about talent. Some players just jump out as raw talent (in first grade terms, in this instance). He may not go anywhere, a lot of young players don't. But he may well do so. It is possible to be impressed by raw talent and proven talent simultaneously.

You have a whole thread dedicated to Paul McShane. Therefore, clearly your own fans have been impressed by him. I hope to see him in an England shirt one day. You never know, he could end up being as good a hooker as Keiron Cunningham was.

Wonder how far off an England call of he may be now actually, if he can continue the way he's going and put in a couple of performances against the bigger sides then he must be very close to challenging for a jersey. Apart from Roby I can't think of any other hookers who have been outstanding so far this season.

Milner is highly thought of and did OK tonight but McSHane was head and shoulders above him. Luke RObinson will be in front of him as well

Not sure it was ever a real threat to barge over from McDonald, but he certainly had an instinct for the line. Whether a barge, or a break or a long reach, he got more than his fair share.



With Bradford, I thought it was the brains of Lowes that gave that threat. He could dive himself, he could pass long, he could move then turn the ball back inside, he could even kick. Unfortunately, he was far better at it when at Bradford than when at Leeds.

Cunningham was another level entirely. You knew what he was going to do, but couldn't do anything about it. It's unfortunate that injuries meant we never saw the best of him at international level.



McShane seems to have a good wide field of vision, and a few tricks in his locker.

McShane had a cracker today and was MOM by a mile for me, with JJB 2nd and Ablett 3rd.

Agreed. I was suprised to see Sky give it to Ablett. If anything I'd have had Sinfield, Burrow or Mcguire there. It was McShane at the top by far.

The majority of graft that Abbo got through today went largely unseen for me. Good call by Statler and Waldorf.

He was very good, as was JJB on the other side, but I thought McShane set the tone.



I think Ablett sealed it with his brilliant chase in the last couple of minutes. My argument would be that McShane's brilliant kick made it possible!

I doubt Clark will be playing hooker in a couple of years anyway. He looks more of a halfback/centre to me.

For me on current form there are not many you would pick for England against mcshane. Roby first choice then the rest are similar. For me I would rather have mcshane than Robinson
