| Quote christopher="christopher"Sutcliffe, Dwyer and Briscoe going, really? You think that’s the current issue?
Honestly this forum sometimes
Deary me, our cap has been totally mismanaged for years, that’s not an easy thing to untangle. Money wasn’t the issue with Hardaker it was the length of the contract we offered him.
.'"
I don't think that's the entirety of the current issue, but it's certainly been a contributing factor to an extent. Not a game goes by on SKY where I see players playing for other teams and I think "He should be at Leeds still" and I just wonder if its not salary cap issues then, to your point, why wouldn't we offer Zak a better contract to secure a very good player?

Surely good players should be paid to stick around for us. Especially Hardaker. Rohan must of had some input as to WHY he thinks we shouldn't keep them.'"
I was meaning Newman looks frustrated by the number of dumb errors being made and the low level of intensity from his teammates.
Recruitment and the cap has not been good for a long time and is another can if worms

| I'm not having a pop or a go, I just can't get my head around the poor players we have now and the mass exodus that have gone to leave them. It can't all be down to money, I just wonder if they didn't buy into Rohans "game plan for the future" ?

| The only players that've gone since Smith arrived that might have added something to the team are Broadbent, who's not exactly Mal Meninga, and Leeming, who spat the dummy at not being first choice, which was entirely down to his own performances. The likes of Sutcliffe and Dwyer were part of a squad that had underperformed for years - they are followers not leaders.

Newman is contributing to those errors, He is s fabulous player but he bombed a try in the first half tonight and will get banned for a ridiculous late hit.
He’s no right to be annoyed at other players until he sorts his own issues out.

| Newman is a top player but his discipline has been poor since he broke into the team and shows no sign of improvement. He constantly complains to the referee when things aren't going our way. He has been binned for it once this season and was lucky to escape it last night. Chev Walker had to come on and have a word at one point. That's without the late tackle that could easily have been 10 minutes also.

| Quote Barrie’s Glass Eye="Barrie’s Glass Eye"At what point have I said that…
Smith got a lot of credit last year, he’s getting a lot of stick this year. Some of it is his fault. Some of it isn’t. Realistically there’s no doubt he needs to change some things and if he doesn’t he’ll run out of good will with the people who matter, not you, me or anyone else on here.
Sounds like discipline is an issue tonight, as well as errors, those are two errors I generally don’t lay squarely at the feet of the coach.'" There's no leadership recognisable on field or off it someone needs to take ownership of this issue and why don't fans matter or not han opinion.

| Worryingly we have lost our last two games to sides that are well coached and extremely motivated. Neither of these sides will feature in the top four play offs. So that unfortunately that is our our standard at the moment. I thought we had the the basis of a good side in which to build on. Unfortunately at the moment that seems a distant memory. I don’t want smith to go mainly because a new coach would embark on a new round of bringing in new players. The risk of that failure being we would be back to square one. On the other hand I have absolutely no confidence In smith.

We’re not far off square one anyway! But I’d give Smith the chance to shape the squad he wants over next 18/12. We sooooo need to get back to basics though. Wish his uncle was here!

| Everything Smith is doing off the field is admirable - media, recruitment, retention, clearing dead wood, back room staff. Everything we've been asking for years.
But it's not transferring to results on the pitch and more importantly performances. We don't even look like winning.
That's a big problem. How long does it go on?
We have to give him the full season, nothing to be gained by sacking him mid-season as we won't get relegated, but if we finish 8th or lower he will be gone at the end of the year.
Once the fans and potentially players start to turn, there's no way back.
We're not only way behind the top 4, we're behind Salford, HKR and Leigh.
The standard in SL has definitely dropped this year.
The fact that the best 2 teams this year finished 11th and 8th last year tells you everything.
Hull play Wakey next. We play Wigan and Saints.
In a couple of weeks, we'll probably be 10th and out of the CC, which is about right.

The things you mention at the beginning don’t happen overnight, yes fans might be impatient but quick fixes have got us into this in the first place.
Absolutely pointless letting Smith do the recruitment for next year to sack him at the end of this one.
We will be in the playoffs at the end if the year anyway imo

| The difference for me was the intensity. You have the attacking skills, as demonstrated by the Myler try, but didn't have same attitude as the likes of Leigh, Salford, WIgan. THere was a scrum about 3/4 through when you were still in the game, but the players just ambled up to it, rather than show slap each other on the back and gee each other up. The difference with Wigan's players attitude in defeat on Thursday was huge.

Very well put.
Interesting to hear the views of other teams fans as you see it through a different lens, without the emotion.
Apart from the small group of idiots who just post brainless goading comments when we lose of course....
We have the skill and ability but lack the intensity, passion and desire.
And watching the likes of HKR and Leigh, that can count for a lot.

No inside knowledge just a gut feeling.
He is constantly moaning at either the ref or his own players and without doubt has the talent but needs to stop believing all the hype and get his head down and play the game.
Like someone else said he could soon become the next Jake Connor.
My feeling is he will go to the NRL or possibly Union.

| I also think Newman could be in the NRL next season if he stays fit.
Problem is that our 3/4's rarely do well over there (with the very odd exception).
Their pool are bigger, more athletic and more skillful.
