Very good point. You’ve got to keep the officials under constant pressure or they will yield to the loudest and most regular voice, or voices in St Helens case. Of course we would all like to win in a gentlemanly fashion, but there is absolutely no point when every other team is conducting themselves differently to gain an advantage over weak officials. Who can ever forget Mcdonell being sent off for a “ghost” punch on Lomax against Saints simply because Lomax said to the ref “he punched me”. It’s time to up the psychological warfare on the officials so we are at least competing on a level playing field. What with all the play acting on the field and interventions by coaches off it, there’s absolutely no point in being honest in a dishonest sport.
