Going to be very tough, but might be beneficial in some ways. Give some other bits of his body a chance to recover and heal. If he comes through it then he could be stronger and fitter.

Best of luck to him. I hope he gets back to fitness and can play a part next year, even if it's a small contribution. It's a long lay off but with that comes a lot of rest and then recovery. I think he deserves the chance to get back to match fitness.

If he wants the chance to end his career in a better way than this then I think he's earned that right.

He certainly deserves to make his own decision. If he wants to retire now, play a few games next year to be able to go out on his own terms or if he thinks he can come back fully, he deserves our support.
