The key to our recent performances have been the pack - Morley and Carvell in particular, but the Andersons are also gonig through one of thier good periods. The Clarke/Higham rotation works well too. Of course, it all needs an in-form Briers to make it all click and he's been good. Mathers and King are giving us some real good kick returns too. (In fact, King is a real workhorse now).

I think Briers kicking game will be key for Warrington, it's also an area where we will struggle, as in the QF. Hopefully Briers will have an off day with the boot and someone will step up to fill Shifty's boots.

Good game on the cards for mine. Whoever gets their prop rotation correct, in what I will imagine will be a warm day, will have the best chance of securing the win.

Good weather is not on the cards, unfortunately I think this will favour the wire.

not necessarily. Our poorest performance of the season was Salford away, in the rain.

We've not played Salford away yet.

To be honest, we've played twice in the rain this year if my memory serves me correctly.



Once against Wakey where we got stuffed, another against Leeds where we very good.



I think we played the conditions better against Leeds, whereas against Wakey we just tried playing summer rugby and that didn't work at all. As long as we play the game as the conditions dictate we should be in with a shot.

Like most SL games it could go either way, we may edge a close one.

I'm not looking forward to a big crowd from wolves alot of there fans are predicting our lowest gate of the season by a big margin (5800 was one of them!).

After a quick Google, your lowest attendance has been 5,595 this year. Average: 7,712 and biggest: 10,155 (Leeds at a guess?)



Looking forward to visiting on Saturday and to a close game, but hoping for a Wire win!

Aha – I was wondering why avge attendance to date was being quoted here as 7,712 and in a thread on the VT as 8,014. The second is avge SL attendance, excluding the home cup tie.

In the league our lowest gate has been 6572 against huddersfield, our super league average is 8014. The biggest gate was wakey, then bradford, leeds have been below par two years on the trot.

Ah yes, I got Wakey and Bradford mixed up then.

Why does our defence seem to fall apart as soon as we're under a bit of pressure? Shame that last score was scrubbed off, it'd have been a real boost going into the 2nd half.

Your guys seemed a bit mentally shot tonight? Making a few crazy decisions, not quite as on the ball as they usually are? It's a shame because I'm not entirely sure Wire deserved that win. There were three wrong decisions by the ref, which were all in Wire's favour, one of which caused a try. I'm not a Cas fan (except by proxy when you aren't playing us!) and I was shouting at the ref!



I hope your guys manage to get themselves back together again soon as they play great rugby when they've a mind to and deserve more wins. So long as they wait until after Friday to do it though, please!

We didn't help ourselves at times, but Cas were utterly caned for 20 minutes at the start of the second half (by that fantastic referee Ben Thaler) and that's when the game was effectively won. Draw your own conclusions.

My conclusions are as follows:



Warrington have a pack.



Cas have Sargent and.. well, that's it.



And the team with a pack will always win.

I'd characterise the game more as Cas had flair while Wire had grunt. In the first half the difference was that their tries were up the middle - as a result they converted the easier extras and that was the only difference.



As I say, Cas didn't help themselves at times but I maintain they were utterly caned at the start of the second. The count went from 4-4 to 8-4 in Wire's favour within 8 minutes and (whether you agree they were fair or not) that pretty much guaranteed Wire would extend the half time lead. They did, twice, and that was the game right there.
