As has already been mentioned by a fair few on here, If we dont sign some serious quality and playmakers soon then we are in for a long off season and a even longer season when it starts. I thought that after the NRC the rugby was boring as hell with one man rugby up the field and we only scraped most of the games by the skin of our teeth.



Nothing i have seen so far with regards to signings is making me change my mind and i wont for the first time in 6 years be rushing for the early bird offer.



Iain Davies and Andy Bracek are not signings that get me excited. Thacks and Handforth just dont work well together at all and we have no line speed and cant tackle. We have been told some more signings to be announced next week and that was a fortnight ago and all we have to show is a young prop from under 23's.



COME ON KARL AND SHOW US WHY WE ALL WANTED YOU BACK. otherwise bring Martin Hall back in becuase he certainly knew how to recruit a great team.

Well due to Martin Halls recruitment we won the Grand final under Calland, Martin hall fell on his sword for his Mate Matt when the Ostick issue arose and we were kicked out of the Challenge cup. Im sorry to say but the NRC compared to the GF is a nothing trophy.

NRC and Grand final trophy and appearance are all worth the same - a tick in a box!!!

What we have currently is innocuous signings, questionable releases, and whooped at home by a team that has some exciting running backs.Probably the biggest question is the style of team we will be watching in 2013 as a prospective ST holder.......because with the over emphasis on the pack and lack of creativity at HB it sure wasn't attractive rugby in 2012 to encourage Yorkshire folk to part with their money.

So, am I right in thinking that under Calland we had exciting rugby? Let me dig out the "I love Callnd threads".

Boring one man rugby, no excitement and still don't tackle. Got to give rhino time and see what happens but it is boring and certainly won't make people rush for season tickets at the moment,



We need a statement of intent and the current signings aren't showing me that intent, some of our releases puzzles me, aizue for instance!.

Well it wasn't text book rugby and there was frustrating baggage but it was Penky included a damned sight more exciting style.......centres and wingers getting passes in open space......I can but dream on down country miles............zzzzzzz.........



Seriously all I want is the right mix of style with the pendulum back somewhere in the middle .......which probably means Lee Greenwood has to face the wrath and have more influence on KH . Would he have enjoyed playing on the wing this year standing about waiting for passes that should have come but never did because the half back did the inside pass yet again?

Wingers have more chance statistically of scoring from retrieving a kick than from a pass nowadays anyway !

Plus, they have a lot more work to do out of dummy half on the speed sets pulling away from our own try line, but of course he's playing centre nowadays anyway.....

i get so frustrated with these types of threads. you can criticise all you want and some always do.(generally the same ones always do) Matt Calland was hated on this forum but all of a sudden he becomes a hero and now Karl who you were all shouting for when Matt was here becomes the villian



We won the NRC but apparantly thats not really a cup to some of you (its actually one of only two things we can realistically win!) we won more games than we lost but thats boring really boring with last minute wins against sheffield in the league, Batley in the League, Keighley in the play offs. We get badly beaten at the end of the season playing with just about eveyone who is fit including at least one who shouldnt be playing, and its like chickin licking "the heavens are falling in" "its the end of the world!"



What do you guys want Fax to win every game 50 nil? thats more like games in the Super League! Wont happen in the Championship, the teams in our league are better matched



So because we are not in the Grand Final lets not rush to get a season ticket! Thats a really great way to support your Club.



Why do we(the BOD and all the staff behind the scenes) bother putting time effort and lots of money into this Club?. . . Lets do a Bradford !,. . . . Perhaps then some of you might value your Club



I have worked as a volunteer at this Club for the last 8 years full time but with threads like this I could happily walk away! and should you feel like cricising me now please feel free to do so I shant be reading this forum any more

if its the same people saying the same crap they do on here mike then why are you biting at it? i and others see and feel where you are coming from as we feel the same but replying like this under the clubs name doesnt help us as a club.it doesnt look good biting at fans with an oppinion and thats all they are. no matter what the club does it will always have em (as all clubs do) and they would also say its boring if we did win every game 50-0.



as for season tickets i will want one but what i will say is we cant as a family afford a rise on them just because of the extra 4 teams so it will be interesting how they are worked out. right now there isnt a massive incentive to buy one as if u miss a game then you lose out and might as well pay at the home games which is where people only end up going to the big games.

to me getting a season ticket with it working out 4 games free would be a massive incentive but you guys are the experts and pushing the club forward and making the club a profit so i will wait and see and accept its been decided on whats best for the club

Tony Gartland walked away from this club. Do we really want the "Mikes" to do the same? It IS the same miserable bleating people who are never happy unless they're bagging the club. Some of them do sterling work for the club though - collecting and fundraising! Which makes it all the more frustrating.



It's September and we have people saying they're not buying season tickets because Leigh and Fev have signed a couple of journeymen! FFS!



Meanwhile, as these people pi55 and moan over the last three years the club just gets on and wins trophies.

Sorry Mike, I started the thread and i stand by every word i said, I pay my money in advance in the form of my season ticket to watch entertaining rugby, Its not about the score its about the entertainment value that i pay for. This year was Boring one man rugby and i think the majority or posters would agree, its about value for money for the time i spend there, and this was the general concsensus of people around me in the south stand. However i am not speaking on behalf of them, it was my opinion.



If you also want my opinion you make a rod for your own back with " the next big signing " only to not be a Big signing in most peoples eyes. Penky has not made his mind up rubbish when all and sundry knew he had, it would have been better to say nothing. I'm not critising the work you do, you do a fantastic job and posted a £20k profit last year. However people are fickle and if you want a surge and uplift like the club keep asking for then now would be a time to announce some "star" signings to replace those we have lost.



Biting at a few ( and lets be honest, we who post on here are only a few ) Loyal supporters for having a opinion is rather a silly thing to do, we do come to most home and away games and purchase the shirts and dining packages etc, but dont let that put you off your defensive rant for us having a opinion



Also i dont see anyone calling Karl a Villian or Matt a hero, I do see people posting about the contrasing styles of coaching that we have seen being played this year and previous years and comparisons being made. I personally found the rugby more entertaining under Matt, However as the opening post says, "i will give it time to see what happens next year.

Sometimes the style of rugby is frustrating. Sometimes it's inconsistent. Sometimes we get matches like the NRC final which was a perfect performance. Many many times we pull our hair out at the brain farts the players come up with.



As the last poster says - it's all opinion but some comments just aren't helpful. Some people just seem happy to constantly moan. Personally, i have LOVED the last three years. Loved the finals which bagged us the trophies and loved the last minute crazy wins.



Go onto the Castleford, Salford and Widnes boards. The usual posters on the Widnes board have all but left. It's grim reading.

Yes, the season finished on a disappointing note, but the squad was down to the bare bones, and had been for a few weeks. The lads looked tired, but without the injuries we suffered I think that a bit of squad rotation would have come into play and we would have been a lot fresher.



Also, without knocking Penky as he was a great player for us, just how much of an impact did the announcement that he was going have? Did it have an influence on the way his mates played, and did it unsettle any of them?



At the end of the day, would we rather see a competitive Fax year in year out, due to the hard work and fiscal prudence of the BOD, staff (paid and unpaid) and coach, or have a situation like happened at Barrow where money was no object, rules were broken and it all came crashing down?



Keep the faith everyone. We have a BOD that care passionately about the club, not just today but for 5, 10, 15 years down the line!

Totally agree, Mike. I used to contribute on this BB but got fed up with the same old whingers whinging about the same old stuff. If we went through the whole season dropping just a point they'd focus on the point which was lost. Nothing but mindless drivel nowadays I'm afraid - the only reason I check it out is to get some "hoped for" advanced info on possible signings, but why do I bother - they're even wrong with that the majority of the time!



Keep up the good work, Mike. I'm sure the "silent majority" appreciate the effort that you, Karl, the players and all those connected with the club put in.

Do you know Rich I find how certain members on this board THINK they are the gospel according to Halifax RLFC and belittle people with different opinions are also a disgrace.



Nobody is calling for the board, walking a coffin around the pitch or being overly negative. People (myself included) have posted opinions on how things feel right now. I also wouldn't call Aspinwall or Andy Ellis journeymen. If I were a Leigh / Fev fan right now I'd be chuffed to bits and feeling pretty excited re next year already!! Maybe in a few weeks we will too and I hope we are!! Right now though I'm a bit deflated cos some good players have left but that's Sport. Also fans are in the majority quite fickle and a couple of key signings changes our mood instantly. BUT right now nothing much is happening and because we all want a successful club we want good news, exciting news, big signings!! We want Leigh, Fev to fear us next year and cos were lagging behind slightly we're wondering who are we signing etc???



In fact the only negative response has come from an impassioned Mike Riley and I get it and his response. Sadly though after 8 years in the role hes in he should know us fans are hard to please and his response is a little ill advised in my opinion but at least he cares. Especially when we are being asked to part with £25 for our names on the new shirt etc.



I just don't agree with bagging people on here for having a different opinion to the Mods or regular posters!! It's a democracy you know and surely we all want the same thing???

What journey men have we signed at Fev little rich I must of not seen them. Thought we had signed some young players from Warrington and Doncaster and in my opinion a S/L quality hooker along with Crossley are you saying you wouldn't of liked them in your team



Regarding people panicking I wouldn't worry KH will know who he wants and will probably get his men lets see how you all feel come the start of next season. Do you know how many season tickets you sold last Season

Strange one really as I guess people would say I fall in to that category yet on the season overall I think we have had a good one simply because we have won some silverware and for me some of the games have had that extra bit of excitement due to us only winning in the dying moments. The worrying thing for me is talking to people who have followed us for years that i speak to that are Fax through and through telling me how much of a boring season it has been and how the rugby we play has been bland.



Everyone is entitled to an opinion no matter how much tripe is in it and the club coming out and bashing fans for it probably isnt the right way to go about it. I think Mike is out of line with some of the things he says, like saying Matt Calland was hated, yes some people didnt like him as a person but not many people slagged off the type of rugby we were playing and also a lot of people on here didnt want Rhino as coach(not me i might add), but dont let the truth get in the way of a good story.



Yes we all get that you put time and effort in to the club but in saying stuff like that you kinda make out that the people who post on here dont, be it through sponsorship, buying shirts, or simply putting money over the turnstiles. I know it must be hard not to comment on some of the stuff on here but at the end of the day the fans go a long way to paying the players wages.

That's what a forum is for though. People don't agree with your opinion that's all. Doesn't mean to say they want you banned from the forum. Everyone should feel free to disagree with anyone.



I strongly disagree with your latest set of posts and i don't think such negative comments (in September!!) are in any way constructive or give encouragement to a BOD that do it all for nothing. However, i know that you have worked as hard as anyone for the club in fundraising and canvassing and i applaud that. We do want the same thing - every Fax poster on here does but as soon as you or i post a topic or reply to a post then we open ourselves up to questioning, ridicule and disagreement - simply because we are on a forum. Same goes for Mike - yes he represents the club but he's a fan with posting rights as well and i say that's fine by me. Some clubs don't talk to their fans at all. It's good to see passion.
