So you can win on Legendary but can't get the ball back? Your scorelines must be more like rugby scores?

Thankfully it arrived this morning and been playing most of the day - pretty epic so far. Just about to go and take on my first dragon. The soundtrack is pretty amazing and definitely adds to the whole feel and experience of the game.

Quick question.



I've been bought a copy of FM12 and obviously I can install it on a PC/Laptop using the disc drive, however I like to have it on my netbook (no disc drive) for when i'm traveling/at college. I know it gets installed via steam so if i install/register it on the computer with a disc drive can i download steam onto the netbook and get it onto it from there or is it locked to just one machine?

FM12 is locked to your steam account, so you can install it as many times as possible on as many machines, as long as you play with oyur steam account.

I can win because I can get the ball and score, but the possession stats are like 72% to 28% in favour of the computer.



Winning on Fifa isn't hard, the same tactic works on pretty much any level: hold up the ball with your striker, call a midfield runner, drag the following defender out of position and play the ball into the path of the midfield runner. When the midfield runner breaks into the box, either do a fake shot and work the angle into a goal, or play it across to one of your supporting players who should be open. I do that in every game on every level within my first couple of attacks, after that I spend most of my time trying to score L2 goals or goals abusing the skill.

L2 goals? What sort are they? Haven't played FIFA in a while. Got rid of BF3 and replaced it with mw3 which i prefer. So next for me is uncharted, assassins creed and possibly batman and that will do me for games.

L2 goals (Left trigger on Xbox) are like, acrobatic goals. If you cross a ball and the player has a bit of room, hold L2 when shooting and he'll do an overhead kick or something similar. They'll also try things like diving headers. I enjoy it because it gives you something to play for, IMO, it adds a bit more entertainment to a game that can get quite boring. Whilst online can be fun, I find it so frustrating with lag.

Lag on FIFA online? It's smooth. The only lag you get is deliberate. You can see the connection quality on the graph before you start, back out if it's not full green bars.

Was very happy to see Skyrim come through the letterbox today, wasn't expecting it for a few days. Just finished my first proper sit down with it, and it's quite simply amazing. The environmental graphics are some of the best I've ever seen and so far the gameplays been very good. Not too far in yet but time goes so quickly when your playing. Just looked at the clock and saw it was one so I though I'd best stop.

As far as I know, you don't get that bar with FUT online games?



I tend not to pay too much attention so I will have to check, but so far, every game I've played has been laggy. It is probably my internet/router or whatever, but I don't enjoy online play as it hasn't been anywhere near as responsive for me as I'd hoped.

I have games on Fifa online that usually aren't lagging, but as soon as I play online on Ultimate Team it is always lagging a lot. That combined with people who skip through their kits just to show which kits they are using when I couldn't care less, they ruin UT online really.

A lot of people have started exploiting lag because they've closed the loops on the other exploits like selecting the keeper instead of defending. They just start the game and start a torrent download or video stream to slow the connection down, with the hope you quit. I really don't see why they do it, if you are cheating, what sense of achievement do you get out of it?

I had a pretty hefty session on Skyrim last night - the game world seems absolutely huge and I've already pretty much abandoned the main quest stories to go exploring and unlock loads of side quests. Managed to kill three dragons so far - they seem easier to kill than some of the other enemies like giants. Also came across an ice witch type person that killed me pretty quickly.



Gonna get some work done this afternoon and carry on after watching England v NZ later on!

Can you perform L2 type of goals from just having the ball at your feet?

Yeah, they'll try a power shot, look-away shot or backheel shot

I never knew it done a power shot. I knew you could do look aways, backheels and 'spinheels' as I call them.

At least I think it does. Maybe only with players of a certain attribute?

Almost 6 hours in to Skyrim, and it's not disappointed me at all. Met my first dragon... it wasted me

Do they make noises like in the adverts?

Just on Fifa now and tried these 'L2' shots in the arena with Neymar and can't seem to get anything apart from standard shots?

Plenty of tutorials on youtube. Just type 'L2 skill shots' in. I think they are relational to the ball position. I've done most of them, but don't use them in games as they are completely pointless and more often than not don't work, much like the more elaborate dribbling skills.

MW3...abysmal. Campaign 6 hours (at a slow pace) with a terrible story. Multiplayer baaaad. Really lazy effort, just cashing in on the franchise, which we knew already.

I bought it but took it back as I realised that I hated COD since MW2. I don't know how they got it so right with COD4 and even WaW, yet so wrong with the others. What the producers have done wrong, and it is wrong, is they've added 'more' in terms of game play. All good games, especially multiplayer games, should stick to a core game play, they should never really anything too much or too dramatic, and instead should look to develop game modes.



When I played Blops and there was all those kill streaks and the 'dolphin dive', I thought 'WTF are these people thinking about?'. Same with MW2 when they added the kill streaks that you controlled yourself; it resulted in people getting 40 kills a game, with 30 of those from kill streaks. Ever since then, I've gradually hated it more and more.



COD4 was a masterpiece, a great multiplayer experience that, compared to the more recent installments, was limited in how much you could do online, yet it had years of depth and playback in it. Since then, instead of sticking to the core game play and developing it, i.e. adding things like better online hosting, better matching systems and better weapons/customisation to improve the overall experience, they just added more things that actually proved to completely change the online experience.



For me, the game will never return to its early heights, it has arguably the biggest fan base in gaming and will continue to exploit that, with things like COD Elite proving how much more they can rake from the customers.
