Welcome to the NEW RLFANS.COM. After twenty-five years of service, the old site expired over the last few days. To maintain service we have had no option but to make an early switch to the new site which was in development/testing. Some elements of the new site are unfinished, such as; page numbering and quotations. We will fix these minor issues as soon as we can, please bear with us. If you are having problems logging in, please try a different browser or platform, if problems persist then email support@rlfans.com

Quote Amazon's own Kindle group (called Lab 126) apparently opted not to take on the project, in favor of continuing to work solely on next-gen E-Ink-based devices.
From there, Amazon's team determined they could build a tablet without the help and experience of Lab 126, so they turned to Quanta, which helped them "shortcut" the development process by using the PlayBook as their hardware template. Of course, it's never quite that simple, and as I'm told Amazon ran into trouble, and eventually sacrifices were made (like using a slower processor).
Although Amazon did refresh the ID of their PlayBook derivative, I'm told that this first tablet of theirs is "supposed to be pretty poor" and is a "stopgap" in order to get a tablet out the door for the 2011 holiday season -- which doesn't exactly leave the best taste in my ">mouth.'"

Quote ="rover49"Looking to buy a smart tv 42" or bigger, anyone bought one recently to ">recommend.'"
Maybe it's just me not knowing what I'm looking for, but I really don't 'get' plasma. A bloke I work with tells me they're unbeatable, but I look and think the picture looks a bit dark and generally not that smooth. I was in Selfridges last night (God knows why, it's a horrible place), so I decided I'd try comparing a few of the TVs they have on show. All of the LED/LCD TVs they had out looked far better than the plasmas on show. When you went right up close, the detail looked much clearer, the edges seemed smoother and the colours were brighter and seemed more natural. I imagine if I was to go home and read a review on the TVs, the plasmas would probably win the review as they always do, but I really don't see why. As I said, maybe it's because I'm not an experienced eye, but I don't get the plasma love-in.

| Plasmas are better for the 47"+ TVs.
The latest LG range of LED Smart TVs have a great picture, we have one (42"icon_wink.gif and bar the sound (which all thin TVs have problems with now) it's a top notch TV.

Our other TV's are LG and we have never had a problem. Looked at the 47" LED 3D Smart version with built in WiFi yesterday and it looks great.

We've got a 47" 3D (Not Smart though) LG. The only problem I have is the poor quality sound but if you're connected to a surround sound system it will be fine.
