It should. Both parties were betting on things as they stood (or appeared to stand) at that point in time.
The bookies will now either ignore the game or price it up / re-handicap it again in view of revised information for any future bets. They can't really apply the 'palpable error' rule as everyone was working to the same information until Salford's statement.
