More moves in the wrong direction by the RFL. Completely over zealous and I am not sure what problem it is attempting to solve.
It may also be flawed, as well as wrong. How does this rolling 12 month period work for players that spent part / all of the previous 12 months outside of UK RL?

Looking at the players that are in jeopardy of suspension, and one in particular, I`m not sure that Duckie will be able to cope.

If they've brought it in this year it should start at zero from this year, carrying points over from last year makes no sense. Just seems yet another pointless change, we must be the only sport that changes it's rules and competition format like we do, No wonder we're a dying sport.

Just the title of the thread made my heart sink, and having now read the article, I have to agree with the above comments. The powers-that-be really can't read the room, can they? Fans spend endless hours moaning about how bad the disciplinary system is and how it's killing the game, so their response is to make it worse still. As a sport, we are absolute masters at shooting ourselves in the foot.

Just look at the board of the RFL and it's no surprise we are short of vision and innovation. A lawyer, a finance guy and an ex referee in the top 4 roles.
Instead of mithering about banning more players (which are typically for offences that would not have even got a penalty 10 years ago) I suggest they concentrate on understanding why Sky are now paying more for DARTS than Pro-RL in the UK and fixing it. After that they could look at why a SL team needs emergency bail out money with zero notice. Governance my backside.
The timing is also abysmal. At this stage of the year, everyone is excited about the new season and getting ready to enjoy watching the game again. Excited to see new stars emerge and old rivalries continue. Their marketing department decided to use this opportunity to talk about banning more players.
"“We’re playing a game in 24 hours and I don’t know what they’re going to do if they want to sanction one of my players because I just won’t accept it. What am I supposed to do? It’s tough, isn’t it?
“We’re all playing the same rules but if they’re changing the system, it’s not been explained to us."
Sam isn't happy about how the new changes were communicated (he found out in the press) and how they have retrospective action from last season.

We only have to look at the fiasco last year when the Hull player was sent off for catching Ben Currie on the chops .Even Ben couldn't believe it. What with changes to disciplinary matters & rule changes in the game Rugby League is evolving away from the spectator & becoming increasingly hard to follow.

Agreed - and it's all so easily avoidable, that's the thing. All it needed is for someone to have had the common sense to say "no, we can't give players disciplinary points based on last season, that's ludicrous, let's just start 2025 with a clean slate". Players who fell foul of the disciplinary in 2024 have already had their cases dealt with and have served their punishment, so by now including points based on those cases, you are effectively going to be punishing a player twice for the same incident. I'm not even sure that would stand up to a legal challenge, if anyone's got the guts to do it.
Look at the Vaughan sending off against Leigh for which he got a 4 match ban from a disciplinary panel that said he was guilty when half the viewing public thought there was no foul committed. Look how many times different players get different sanctions ,if any at all, for the same offence. Unless we get a disciplinary panel that can hand out punishments fairly & evenly how can we have any faith in this new system.
