I say 'sort of' because you can't really worry that he wouldn't get a chance, as that would probably mean French finishing his career here and Harry Smith continuing his career at Wigan for a number of years. Even then, I'd imagine a chance will crop up, be that through one of those two moving on to the NRL or even Field going back and then French being moved in to fullback again.
Guys like Eckersley, Douglas and Hill have realistic targets to try and get past (Miski, Keighran, Byrne, Dupree etc) and if they're good enough, they'll manage it and will nail a first team spot. In terms of Eckesley/Keighran, I get the feeling Wigan may hold off on any offer for Keighran and promote Eckersley for 2026 but we'll see.
What if Farrimond displaces either of them because of his form. Rads rates him very highly, he puts him in the same bracket as George Williams at the same age.

Then we'll all be chuffed because he'll be some player. It's a great position to be in. I think they'll open up a path in to the side for him somehow. If he's good enough to open it himself through performance then we're in for a treat.
I definitely don't have the headspace or motivation to keep track of it but I'm sure we and other clubs have had backs playing more than 25 games? If anything it means you're punished for going longer in the two domestic competitions. Might it mean we have to rest our first teamers more this year because we won all the trophies last year?
its going to be an absolute nightmare to manage.
One scenario I just thought of and its related to how you can use the following seasons allowance in advance if you progress through cups, playoffs and internationals etc...
Just say Wigan agree to sell a player to say Warrington. Wigan could then, knowing that player is going to Warrington next season, use as many minutes of the allowance as possible. That would result in one of two scenarios:
1 - Warrington having less minutes available the next season (doesn't feel right does it...the same could happen to us) 2 - Warrington use the following seasons allocation (If that is possible, where does it end? When they retire, go to the NRL or get a big injury)

He will only get a chance to show proper form if there is a long term injury to French or Smith.

I've previously posted on this subject about 3months ago
The article linked has been superceded as instead of the rules being mandatory for 2024 and rolling into 2025 they deferred the rules to only come into effect for 2025 rolling into 2026
Instead of people getting wound up because we don't fully understand the rules, I'm taking the stance that the clubs, officials, players know the rules, agreed them and its better they understand and implement them than worrying about what I don't know
From what I read no players would miss play off or semi finals/Cup finals because of these recommendations (it's hard to use the word rule when I'm about to say what I believe to be the case) as if a player reached his limit say on the last game of the regular season then they would be allowed to play however the minutes played in the play offs would then need to come.off the following years allocation of minutes to pay back that time etc.
Please note - I'm not making any comment about agreeing or disagreeing with this etc. Just sating that if you read the latest article it does explain a few more things (sorry not got time to find the latest article that I saw from around june/July time).
So no we won't be punished for winning all the trophies because the clock is set at zero from 2025 And if we did go far in all comps in 2025 then game time needs managing through 2025 to have as least impact on 2026 but won't effect 2025 as no players will miss semi final/final or play offs due to the rule but would need time off at the start of 2026 to compensate .

Not if he outperforms them, surely that's obvious? Peet isn't going to keep Farrimond in the reserves if he's a better option/player or more in form than either of the other 2?

So Brierley could be an option with a salary cap dispensation?
Not saying we need him, but desperate times at Salford by the sound of it. I suppose Sneyd will be the jewel of the crown for any asset strippers circling around
