Exactly, I don`t know all of the ins and outs, but neither will any player you negotiate with, doesn`t look great does it? If the club are releasing him because he hasn`t met the terms of his contract etc, then they should be explicit in that, otherwise they look a little bit silly.
Didn`t you sign him knowing his injury record and didn`t you do a medical before he signed his contract?

So only 2 weeks prior so it might be the deal was already in progress but we don't always announce signings straight away so it could have been already in the bag.
We also need to consider that the takeover wasn't a done deal back then, signings may have been on the frugal side (Abdull had cap exemptions) than now where we have lots of money in the bank.

The club would have obviously known about his injury record but at the time thought it was a risk worth taking.
The knee injury seems to be an ongoing problem and I would have thought an operation if needed would have taken place a couple of months ago.
The latest article in the HDM suggests that it may not be entirely down to the injury but not meeting the more professional standards that he has brought in. Cartwright has shown ruthlessness which is something we've needed for years.
Either way I'm disappointed because when fit he is a quality player. I hope he makes a full recovery and finds another club.

Abdull had 2 years to run on his Rovers contract and mentioned he’d had the option of another year in France when he agreed to join Hull, in a recent interview with Tomlinson. I can’t imagine he’d have taken a contract massively loaded in Hull’s favour in those circumstances. However, if it is a biggish pay-off then surely there’s a case for just de-registering and seeing how the land lies later in the year… unless there’s something else. Nothing on the Hull FC website when I checked a little earlier but i imagine it’ll be one of those very brief ‘released, wish him well’ ones, anyway.
The club only issues comms at 6pm, it's the law and for positive news for social media view reasons (gotta keep those IMG points rolling in)

Medicals don't seem to be a thing in RL, possibly due to cost. Then again it doesn't always stop stupid decisions, years ago Hull City were allegedly told Jimmy Bullard's knee was a wreck but went ahead on a massive salary anyway.

Sad for Jordan but 100% behind the decision.
Seems to me the contract was drawn fully aware of the risk, likely on the back of 'settlements' from KR & maybe Dragons ?
Likely there was a date cut off - possibly first fixture of the year ?? We simply couldn't have another Truman situation so the call had to be made, hopefully hasn't cost the new owners too much.....we move on, but not with a marquee half on mega money sat in the stands for most of the season.
IF it was attitude then he really made a potentially tricky decision very easy. Seems we are finally approaching a SL 'Culture'.

Surely the club knows we need a running half with pace. That was why the signing of Abdul made no sense irrespective of his injury record Maybe its not easy but Sneyd is not the answer to compliment Sezer We may as well run with we have and find that running half back we really need even if we have to wait for 2026 season. We dont need any more fillers its a poor strategy

In Ritchie we trust Whatever the cost is it shouldnt have happened given all the warning signs about Abduls injuries, plus a three year contract to add salt into the clubs wounds.

Obviously, none of us know the full details behind Abdull's departure, but I think we may have dodged a bullet here. Unfortunately the situation with him was beginning to ominously look like Truman part II. The club's actions here do come across as a touch ruthless, but the new regime clearly feel they need to implement the 'new culture' from the off.
The concern I would have here is that we need to be careful not to gain a reputation for being too ruthless, ironically. Abdull's swift exit, not long after Walker's equally swift demise, may lead to potential targets seeking contracts which are heavily slanted in their favour before committing to us. Elite sport is a cut throat business, but it is something to bear in mind as the new regime progresses.
I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011.
