The "Williams to Swinton" one is just a rumour. So it's up to you and your mate whether you pass it on or not ... apparently it's all the rage.

Does that mean some of the signings made this season are just stop gap signings and with the 8 off contract end of next season plans are made for 2026 and it’s just a case of oh well let’s just see how we do in 25.

This is the original quote. I asked whether the source was someone who knew SB well so that I could judge whether I should take it seriously or not.
It is obviously up to karetaker what he posts, but it also legitimate to ask questions like this. A simple “yes” or “no” would give context. I genuinely don’t understand the reluctance to answer, or maybe i should treat the non answer as an answer?

Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.

Apparently Leigh are supposed to be wanting a back not a forward.

Makes no sense at all as it's not a rebuild year at all, 3 players coming in to a squad that will barely change isn't a rebuild year. And there's absolutely no way Burgess would say he's not expecting much next year, he's not that kind of person and will be pushing to win.

Wrench if he picks up a few more injuries i'd let go.

Whilst Tai isn't great as a skillful centre, he's still only 25 with his first year at the top level under his belt. The thing that will tell with him is if he can learn and add more to his attacking range. Or it could be his last year with Lindop Getting more game time to help him develop.

Musgrove so far has just been an ok squad filler, But Burgess thinks he's played really well for us so can see him getting a new contract.

Ratchford i think will only play a handful of games next year, to cover injuries or when resting players.

Crowther is great and covers the forward line, and will put 100% in wherever he plays, would be happy to extend his contract.

*** Also just as a side note having read the other comments, this isn't me having a go at you at all, or calling you a liar or anything. I'm happy to hear all rumours, gossip etc I'm just saying i find it hard to believe :-)

I agree it doesn't sound like a Burgess thing to say but there has been quite a turnover in playing roster from the 2023 squad.

Out
Drinkwater
Nicholson
Bullock
Kasiano
Dudson
Dwyer
Russell
Bruines

In
Yates*
Taylor-Wray
Wood
Leyland
Johnson
Russell
Okoro

Yeah but you can easily discount 3 of them straight away as they never played a game for us, Russell played about 2 games and Bullock played about 6 as did Dudson i think. So 6 out of the 8 barely made any impact and aren't really a loss.
Only Nicholson, Drinkwater and Bateman you could actually class as a loss.
So i still don't class it as a rebuild year :-)
I'm looking forward to Okoro getting on the field as he is a big lad and could potentially make an impact. Thomas looked really good in pre-season before his injury so hoping he can get some game time.
I keep forgetting about Lucas Green as well, he looked pretty good the few times i've seen him play, and a lot of game time at Bradford will have done him good.
I was thinking with the size of Dan Russell he might be used as a prop at some point, unless he is great after pre-season and can take Currie or Fitzs spot he seems a bit of a wasted signing. Will wait and see how he's used.

Russell and Dudson - 1 game each.
Bullock - 10 games

Yates is better than Bullock and Dudson combined, but we're still missing a big, impact, prop (which should be Musgrove's role).

Fitzgibbon is clearly a risk due to his shoulder (he managed 17 games last season, 2 of which he came off injured). Whilst Dan Russell's signing hasn't set pulses racing, clearly there's been some thought as to backup options.

Both Hayes and Leyland have potential but also risk vs. Drinkwater's 'what you see is what you get'.

I think Hayes has already shown he is at least as good as Drinkwater with the ball and on the boot and - despite his size - better defensively.

Agreed Fitz is a risk, really hope he comes good.

Still think we need a back rower and an impact prop to challenge Wigan, but the squad is good enough for a similar year to last at least, I’m my view.
