well if 6-00 tonight passes quietly from the club as the last few have and we don't have a big reveal tomorrow morning, then tomorrow night is going to be mighty uncomfortable for Mr Pearson because on perusing social media tonight, patience is wearing a bit thin. 7000 have invested blindly on vague promises of jam tomorrow again (granted this time concerning investment) and I think myself they at least deserve an explanation as to exactly where we are.

I’m still hearing that AP will be sticking around as the majority shareholder. Maybe he’s more savvy then we think and has suddenly managed to persuade a group of millionaires with no emotional connection to the club or even the City (some people on SM are actually saying billionaires) to pump a load of money in, pay off the debts and and make us successful for him to benefit down the line but I’m skeptical that he’s that great a businessman.
I’ve literally seen people talking about building stadiums and stuff. Like I say any ‘cash injection’ is very welcome and it looks like under Myler money is being spent much more wisely as it stands anyway but just don’t see the fairytale people are hoping for. This is a fanbase that allows itself to be convinced every 3 years for the past 25 that Mally Walker is buying the club. Any ‘investment’ that keeps the club afloat and allows us to spend as a normal SL club would be a huge win at the moment for me.
Think how giddy and optimistic they will be after Adam finishes his sermon tomorrow evening. We will go from bottom four to top four all in an hour

To be fair to Pearson this time he hasn’t really promised anything other then very vague statements that they are in talks with various parties about investment and for confidentiality reasons he won’t mention names of the individuals involved. You can pretty much copy and paste it into any statement and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same again tomorrow. It’s always been a bit of cop out to me. Like I’ve warned about on here it’s only supporters themselves getting carried away with themselves building up expectation.
FWIW I think the positive changes off the field seemingly brought about by Myler indicate that potentially big changes are on the way, but let’s not forget these changes are not re-inventing the wheel, it’s the bare minimum that most if not all SL sides will be doing anyways. There’s reason for optimism with the signings too, buts it’s still mostly journeyman pros who we are hoping lift standards and help the younger players develop. Like I said a lot of supporters on social media seem to expect that once any ‘investment’ is confirmed we’ll be splashing cash around like an oil state owned soccer team.

Maybe they are saving the announcement until the forum?

I know the current TV deal is a shambles but even if that improves there’s only a handful of clubs with a potential fanbase to ever be self sufficient IMO. Hull, Leeds, Wigan, St’s and possibly Wire and Rovers are the ones you’d say, and we are the only ones out of that group that are actively for sale at the moment so I’d say it would make sense on loads of levels if he bought the club.
What I can’t get my head around is why he or anyone else would just invest money in a SL club (especially one that’s been ran as badly as ours) at the moment without wanting full control. Hopefully something is clarified soon to end all the speculation, I and I assume most of the fanbase will be over moon if it’s a complete fresh start under a new regime.
Maybe another factor is the stadium lease, maybe he wants that sorted before investing too much? As technically we could be homeless in 3 years time and not only is a new stadium costly there wouldn't be enough time to build one now.
Not too worried about the lease though, the SMC will still want our money as it's hard to replace with new income and as things stand it could be 3rd division football on the cards soon.
I don't think the stadium has seen a decent sporting event all year! Bring back the 00s
