Sad news. Met him a fair few times and was always very friendly and good to have a pint with. My hero as a young lad , wanted to play just like him lol. I used to try and go for the intercept all the time

Very sad, a genuine all-timer, and someone who really cared passionately about the game. Wishing him and his loved ones all the best.

One of the best player's I ever saw. Those were the days of big names and big personalities not like today. All the best and thanks for some great memories.

Very sad and whilst he tried to put his stamp on journalism he was often ridiculed for his views. The game needs more characters like him. Great player to watch along with Harris and Hanley up there with the legends of the game.
Very sad my all time favourite Leeds player total class player who had all the skills. Think that the club and rugby league should do something for him and his family.
Very sad to hear. A world class centre who developed into a world class stand off. World class not in some nonsense "he played for GB" way, but because he was right up there with the best. For those who never saw him play, there are some great clips of him playing for GB and scoring unbelievable tries as a teenager on the 1984 tour, and then loads after that.
I agree that the club ought to do something to help. Something with Hull FC would be nice if they're in.
