Walkers contract is up at the end of 2025 anyway and is free to negotiate with other clubs now. If we wanted to keep him long term we’d have to offer him a new deal pretty soon. As much as I think he’s a good player at this point I wouldn’t be offering him a new deal, that would be a huge gamble in the hope that he has a brilliant and relatively injury free 2025.

I'd doubt Walker is good enough to play FB for an NRL side.
Released by Leeds, not wanted by Rovers and Hull, but would get a contract at Canberra.

Wonder if Canberra know that we’re trying to offload someone who’s better than the guy who played fullback for them just about all season and they offered a new contract to

All in all whilst I think Walker is unfortunate I think the club are making the correct decision in terms of moving on all 3 of Smith, Tindall and Walker.
Rapana has been brought in to be first choice FB and mentor to the likes of Moy and probably Litten too so it's unlikely Walker would get a chance to take the field. Smith has tried and given his best but again he's very unlikely to make it in to the 17 in 2025. Tindall never really got an opportunity and thats tells its own tale when he couldn't push his way past two young inexperienced players in Martin & Barron and with Briscoe again he's unlikely to feature in any 17.
These are the decisions that successful clubs make to make then stronger by not hanging to players that won't play much of a part, its the equivalent of keeping stuff instead of throwing away that you think 'that'll come in handy', only to not use it and throw away years later.
All 3 players deserve the chance to carry on playing so for their own careers they need to move on.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!
