Line of the week, possibly even the year!! Is that speaking from personal experience Wilf, or just what you've heard second-hand?
Agree with you about Cartwright potentially being last-chance saloon for us. Where do we go and who do we turn to if the slide downwards isn't stopped right now.
I'm not expecting miracles and I think we all know there is an incredibly amount of damage to repair of many years standing before we can start to contemplate challenging the likes of Wigan once more.
Even if he only stays a couple of years and even if he doesn't be the man who leads us back to glory, I'm hoping (praying more like!) that Cartwright is the man who lays the sturdy foundation stones upon which others to come can build upon.
The club is a mess, almost a basket-case after a horrendous catalogue of errors over the past seven years or so, unquestionably the worst we have been in since the 60s/70s. The big difference between now and then is the context and situation of the sport. Being a struggling club 50/60 years ago, whilst depressing, didn't tend to be life-threatening, although we did run close at times in the seventies. Because of the way the game is now structured we have ran out of room to manoeuvre, we simply cannot afford to fall any further back, the trapdoor to oblivion is all that now remains beneath our feet, the fightback has to start right now or else the unthinkable awaits.
Agree that it sounds good so far, his attitude to work-ethic is what we desperately need to steady the ship, but as you say Wilf, false dawns and all that means there is always an air of caution (and dread!) where our club is concerned.
I'm hopeful we have at last made a right decision and the road back to the top starts here, but we have a long way to travel. Keep the faith everyone, but then we don't have much choice do we, you're either with the club or you walk away, there is no halfway house where Hull Fc are concerned is there!!!
