Gutted for him. Something clearly changed from before to after that rib injury.
He was in quality form until that point and although he was still sublime with ball in hand at the back end of the season he was suddenly very shaky under the high ball and clearly nursing an injury.
Did a brave job in tough circumstances, playing out of position for most of the season. His performance when we hammered Saints at the LSV was as good as anyone has put in for Leigh in my time. He was untouchable.
Wish him all the best. Finding his replacement will be a huge decision for the club.

It's a shame but his body was telling him it was time. Sadly his body was telling US it was time too. DB made some nice noises in a recent interview but seemed resigned to it. Wish Matt well back in civvy street.
....and here comes what seemingly is becoming Bongser's annual question: Who's going to kick the goals?
Macintosh probably will kick goals if he hold that wing position. He started last year when Moylan was out, but then Hardacker took over part way through a game. Going to be hard to find a good half back at this time. Boyd who was mentioned is being chased by Manley.
I was delighted when he signed and now I am kind of relieved that he has retired. Matt Moylan, if speculation is correct was Leigh's 3rd choice half for the 2024 season. He came with a rich history in the NRL, but speculation suggested he was slowing down and issues tackling. Pace was never the issue with Moylan at Leigh, his speed of thought allowed him ample space and time and with soft hands produced some champagne moments, hiding behind the sticks, a one-two with Ricky Leutele down the blind-side, to name just two.
At the end of the day he arrived at the LSV as a half-back and retired as a full-back. What the Leopards really need now we have a solid full-back in place, is a top of the range half-back to compliment Lachlan Lam. Lammy's weaknesses are that of a pedestrian kicking game and an inability to work both side of the attack. The main focus for me would be to find a half who favours the right edge and can kick from tee and out of the hand. Good luck to Chezzy in finding one because this might be the last piece of puzzle.
I’d go for Brad Schneider, I’d also be planning to replace Lachlan Lam he doesn’t look like his heart is in and he doesn’t take a quota spot so we need to be planning now!
