This may go some way to explaining why he continued to layer mistake upon mistake over the last few years as well as his dismissal of posters here and the other forum as a "few whiners". The facebook fanpage has a condition of membership that you do not criticise the club, players or staff?????
WTF????
I have been a Glasgow Celtic fan for decades and criticism of the club, players and staff has been a PRE-CONDITION of fandom, long before social media was born. There seems to be a core of a dozen or so who still blindly cheer Hughes for his efforts, but you would have to be mentally deficient not to see that Hughes, regardless of investment or best intentions, has killed the club, stone dead.
As for the future? Does anyone believe that an investor would touch London without cast iron assurances from IMG? It would be like buying a lottery ticket for twice the price and already knowing you've picked the wrong numbers. IMHO, better we drop down now, regroup as an amateur side and rebuild from the bottom up. There is no silver bullet. Long days of hard graft are needed and without Hughes to paper over the cracks with tenners and pay wages to the wrong people, we may just see how loyal these one eyed social media fascists are when it comes to volunteering. They certainly went MIA when they were asked to help out a couple of years back.
Rosslyn Park ir Trailfinders as a base with a view to League 1 in 2026 or 27 would be a start. Aim to get 1,000 paying fans and 500 freebies a week and cultivate the freebies. Engage with the locals, become part of the local fabric and grow organically.
I suspect most of us will be Hovis by the time any organic growth sees the light of day. From what I can see we don't have the likes of Ron & Mo Snares or Gwen & Barry Warren to drive that approach forward.
