Just the pure mathematics of numbers of players leaving v players incoming (maybe only one of them in their prime in terms of earning potential) makes me thing there has to be room if Mom goes. Whether it's Sivo or not there would have to significant space to land a top/marquee player. Worth remembering that Peter Smith hasn't exactly been breaking the exclusives for some time, in fact he was pouring cold water on the Connor rumour the other day. You lotpod guys are more likely to get the scoop.

You would like to think this would clear some decent cap space but is that being taken by Jake Connor? He won't move for peanuts at this stage of his career. I'd be surprised and disappointed though if Connor is our only back line recruit.. we need more strike there.

Not sure if this counts a transfer rumour, but Western Bears have just been denied a place in the NRL for 2027. Probably means we have a better chance to keep BA for longer.
It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.

Agree. The fact the Giants want to get rid says it all. A disrupter to team spirit blaming other players even when its plainly his error or fault. All the ones on here saying Arthur will sort his attitude at the age of 30 are hopeful in the extreme. I would rather play one of the reserves who have the right attitude than a Prima Donna. Just hope the builders have been in before he arrives to widen the doors.
The Bears still have more chance than PNG. Nobody wants to expand there except for the Australian government. Players wouldn't live there, and they would have to play out of Cairns or fly in and fly our for games. They would get hammered regularly with very little scope to improve, as I doubt they would ever attract top NRL players except those with PNG backgrounds. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some brinkmanship at play with the Bears bid to get the WA govt to commit more money.
Looking at our squad vs Wigan and Sts, even with the new signings, you have to say some of our players must be on massive overs compared to their ability if we are tight with the cap. Of the players currently on the books for next year a whole bunch haven't got a lot of experience between them, and Holroyd and Gannon aren't exactly seasoned pros at the top of their earning potential.
Cas have offloaded 9 today, guessing Ruan could go there and possibly Sangare if we cover some wages. My old friend who lives under Lock Lane bridge informs me that Cas won’t pay any player over £75k a year , so they are out of the running for Cleary.
The thing with Sangare is that coaches will look at his sheer size and think they could turn him into a player. Call it the "Karl Pryce" conundrum. Maybe Arthur does as well? Problem is I can't remember a big forward whose basic problem was lack of vim ever becoming a monster later in their career.

Agreed. The temptation is to try to ”convert” a big lad who doesn’t have the attitude or toughness, into a monster prop. Never works, cut our losses and move him on.
