Of the 2 Rourke has performed at a better level in SL this year than Max has when he has played SL.

I think MJ needed this to really make him kick on to the next level, if he doesn’t he will struggle to hold onto the 1 shirt.

Fantastic to have options, competition for places and depth.

Seriously?
MJ played to a very good standard in SL when he was allowed to play!

I think he had some good spells and he is clearly very talented lad. He also experienced some tough times in SL too.

Rourke has had a breakout season this year. He’s been outstanding in a very poor team. He’s been awarded the accolade of being the best player in SL in July.

No disrespect to Max, as I do rate him, but I don’t think you could realistically say during his time in SL that at any point he could be considered the best player in the comp over a 4 week period.

I do think that you have to be realistic in that Roarke has played 16 games in SL and not many more career games. He is a rookie. Early signs show a talented one. It’s also easier to stand out when playing in a part time and relatively poor team.

Comparing that to Max who’s 100+ SL and 150 Career appearances and entering his prime years off the back of a year where he’s been head and shoulders the best player in the championship consistently is not much of a comparison.

That’s not to say Roarke doesn’t have talent but he’s 24? And relatively inexperienced for that age standing out in a poor team.

I’m happy to have Roarke but Max is the better more experienced full back and Roarke could become a much better player by soaking up the parts of Max’s game that Roarke appears to need to work on (creating the space, the pass selection and organising defensive line).

I am happy to have both as options though. Good signing is Roarke but let’s not go overboard. The guy doesn’t need that pressure either.

Not really sure where I’ve gone overboard, just stated facts in regards Rourke.

Just thought you were comparing both and it appeared reading between the lines that you were suggesting was the better full back. Apologies if that wasn’t the case.

Roarke has that running game for sure but I think it could be a great move for the club and Roarke to develop further.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m looking forward to seeing him next season. Could have two good full backs on our hands and not all clubs have that depth.

Could you really say that about Rourke?

Do not think Rouke is a threat to Max at all .When Max was in S L was taken out of the team many a time when he did not deserve it .Max this year as turned into a leader in the team and wants about 20 plus points to break the record of most points in a season.Know it is only the Championship but you got to give him Credit .Think the one year for Rouke deal says to me let's see how good he is

He should always be a threat. If not why sign him.
Max may well be better but he has to keep his form to keep his place same as everyone else.
That's what makes a good squad.

Spot on keep his form as everyone else ,signed as a out side back ,so to me must mean a threat to 5 or 6 positions not one
