It was never my rumour. I simply passed on something that I had heard from someone else and if you went through my posts I said that whilst I would love it to happen it was unlikely unless Wigan had to let him leave due to SC issues.

I hardly passed it off as a 100% definite. Something that you did when you said Thompson wasn't signing for Wigan. Remember that? I was also the one that said if he came back to SL he was always going to Wigan.

Well Stu you can officially adopt the little fella,he has now attached himself to you.

As a side note Luke Thomson's dad said to me Luke would never sign for Wigan even fathers get it wrong sometime.

Its funny but Rob never did reply to my PM where I offered to meet him to show him the messages that Fraysinnous was our new assistant coach well before the media got wind. Can't think why.

Back to Thompson though and it is a strange one. His Dad was a big sponsor at Saints and Luke famously put his Nan's address down at high school so that he could play for St Helens schoolboys rather than Wigan. I do think though that the way he left Saints during Covid meant that we were never a viable destination even if we had found the money.

It does feel like Thompson stuck two fingers up at the Saints top brass by signing for Wigan in response to his exit, which seemed a bit messy at the time. These things happen. There were similar rumours of guys like Gildart and Bateman leaving here under a bit of a cloud and it then being unlikely that we'd ever see them back at the club. The funny thing with Thompson is that he's exactly what Saints could do with currently. An experienced, metre making prop to help lads like Lees and Delaney and to help the transition to a future without Walmsley.

Couldn't resist I can't lie, I was extremely dubious about signing Thompson with his injury/concussion record and thought we may have another George Burgess situation. It's been the polar opposite so far and sometimes luck just seems to run your way at a time that you also have a very good side.

Yeah, frustratingly for me you have signed the pre-NRL Thompson. He has been outstanding to be fair and turned out to be a superb signing. I too was hoping he would turn out to be a George Burgess

Re- Luke it could be his father pushing him with the address thing etc,with his dad being a Saints fan/sponsor.
Anyway he seems to be loving it at Wigan.
