Tin hat on here but it’s not like Hull fans don’t have a reputation for both being terrible judges of players in general and over criticism of local players. Admittedly the local lads should lead by example in effort and pride in the shirt but l think sometimes it goes the other way and borders bias at times with the criticism.
Anyways, it does look like it will be the closest thing we’ll get to full reset and fresh start for everyone next season. Fash has been poor and even borderline liability at times this season but for me if gets a pass, plenty of others have before let’s see how he goes in a better environment, I honestly think plenty of clubs would want a player like him on his form a couple of years ago, nobody has really covered themselves in glory this year for whatever reason but a bit of perspective is needed.
Lane is slightly different, I think maybe a couple of years ago the stats he posted for some games were unacceptable for a senior pro, but he’s seemingly become a real workhorse this season in a side that’s battered every week. Alongside a bit more quality in the side the effort and defensive work he’s been getting through might be more appreciated, he might even get the opportunity to score the tries he was regularly a few years ago in a bit better side, we know he has that in his locker.
Maybe the toxic tag the players give the supporters is unfair with what we’ve had to put up with, but either way I think we’d all be better just wiping the slate clean for next season and see how it goes. It can’t be any worse can it? Players and fans at each other backs all the time will never create a good environment.
You'd like to think there is still money within the cap to bring in more players even if we don't lose anyone. Some reported big earners going and we surely can't be paying the likes of briscoe, chamberlain, hardaker and burough much. Plus 3 are supposedly marquee
Ins Asiata Cust Burough Briscoe Chamberlain Hardaker sezer rapana abdul
Out hoy pele okunbor brown brown sutcliffe mitch carlos houghton walker? trueman tindall? mcintosh cator scott diakhate
All presumably in the top 25 earners. If those coming in are costing as much as those leaving we're back to square one with value for money within the cap

You would like to think we have a fair bit of cap left but unless a club wants to release a player from his contract or we are prepared to pay a transfer fee there's next to no quality available. I only hope if we sign 2/3 more they are decent quality and not squad fillers.

Even if we take AP as gospel when he insisted we spent the basic cap limit of £2.1 million (Sky said we were at 1. for the 2024 squad that’s still a full million pound less then Wigan who maxed out all the exemptions at 3.1 million with Wire and Catalans not far behind at supposedly at 3 million.
I’m not suggesting we spent £3 million on wages as that clearly wouldn’t be sustainable for us especially if we have a big dip in crowds next year but yeah going off the ins and outs so far you’d think we should have loads of wriggle room on the salary cap if needed.
Like you say if we don’t have space on the cap we obviously aren’t using the exemptions sensibly or getting general ‘value’ on the cap compared to other teams. I think it’s quota places and maybe how we jiggle marquee spots that are a bigger obstacle to spending rather then the salary cap, and being skint obviously doesn’t help either.

Not a chance we spent 1.8 million on players this year. He’s just a serial liar.

I'm not so sure, if the rumours are true, Sao, Trueman and Carlos were on about 500k. I also got told how much Morgan Smith was on (not sure how accurate it was) but if true it would make you cry.
I honestly think Smith and Clarke just thrower money at player, probably the reason the likes of Walker and Sutcliffe ate going.

He said £2.1 million, it was Sky who said they did the research and it was 1.8, AP wasn’t happy at that and even mentioned legal action
Either way whoever’s figures you use and even if Hull/AP admitted they wanted a season well under the cap to balance the books (quite reasonable in the circumstances) it’s still been horrendously managed when you consider London are spending 1.4 and Salford and Cas 1.7.
