I will say though, and this isn't aimed at anyone here specifically, but I think one of the reasons our fanbase has been accused of being toxic is the reaction to signings and rumoured signings. Instead of welcoming a player to the club, we instead question and criticise the signing of that player and/or deem them not good enough for one reason or another. And that discontent only grows if they fail to dazzle in their first appearance and every match thereafter.
As I say, that's not aimed specifically at anyone. Just an observation on our divided and often negative fanbase who seem to have lost what little patience and positivity was left.
We're no different to the fan base of any sporting club in the world. Nowhere do you get universal agreement and positivity on signings. The difference with us is that the club has gone down the toilet on and off the field in recent years and fans rightly will have a more negative opinion until things start to improve.
On the recruitment as a whole, it's high risk and may work or may not. Injury prone players in cust and abdul, older players in sezer, rapana nad hardaker, young inexperienced hooker and journeymen like holmes and chamberlain.
Let's be honest, the 3 biggest areas we need to improve on are fitness (including conditioning), defence and attitude. Sort those 3 out and we'll be more than half way there irrespective of the playing group. That will be down to myler and cartwright to sort. It will be interesting to see what happens
