Remember when he dared to criticise some of the local lads for underperforming? The local fan club were on his back for daring to have a go at their beloved even when it was warranted. The lad can’t win

Exactly that, although he’s a fan he isn’t afraid to say it how it is. But hull boys club don’t like that when he dares to question anyone from a HU postcode.

To be honest I don't think Dan Tomlinson had shied away from saying it as it is and at times has for me been brutally honest about all aspects of the club, from the owner, Coaches, players etc. For me in the most part he says it as it is and has rarely sugar coated anything. In a season that has been one embarrassment after another its hardly surprising may of his articles are almost copy and paste as nothing much has changed, other than the player coming and goings. He has at times looked to highlight any positives he could but lets be honest these aren't exactly in plentiful supply so a little artistic license at times so to speak is understandable.
Realistically if it weren't for Dan we'd likely hear very little in terms of the club as they are still very much (for me anyway) lacking the connection to the fans despite Myler stating that was on his list of priorities to rectify.

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

From Standing in the park selling a fanzine he had spent all week to produce, to taking part in the then fans organisation, to a dedicated podcast on the team, to the Mail, as an FC nut he aint done bad. its good for me to know that a fan is reporting for the Mail and one who gets what it is like for us lot and who isn't afraid to hold the clubs feet to the flames and sometimes say exactly what we are thinking.

He was close to being disposed of by the owners of the paper a while back, ( because I noted, that the circulation of the printed tome had sunk from 177,000 a few years ago to around 7,000 now and it is real trouble) but instead of chucking in the towel he stuck it out, argued his case and after pressure from several angles he got retained on a temporary basis which is still as far as I know his situation.

I agree completely with Chris that if it weren't for Dan we would hear next to nothing about our club. Just compare the two or three bits we get from him every day and the zilch we get from the Club. Look at today after a despicable performance on Friday we still hear nothing, all we get is Grixy wringing his hands every post match but no words of consolation, explanation or even empathy from above for us all? I know Degsy is a dick but at least the Leigh fans hear from him!!! Trouble is I guess some just have to have someone to have a go at, and Dan falls into that category, quite frankly I don't know about you but my weekly life as an FC fanatic and my discussions about it with my pals throughout, has been pretty much cut and paste this year anyway!

Yes, Dan is a true Black & White and deserves credit for telling it how it is.

I see today he's floated the fact that the Club are shopping Sao around Super league with a view to bringing in an NRL middle. ironically that's something some of his own protagonists have wanted to happen. Once again he's letting a bit of a cat out of the bag in advance no doubt thanks to the contacts he and Smailsey have amongst a couple of CE's and some of the players agent and what does he do, he verifies it and then tell us all about it. No doubt the club won't like it but he's a fan, it might not come to anything but you can bet your life its happening, and he's got a blooming good record on such early disclosures over his time at the Mail as well but obviously some would rather see him gone and us not get them.

I doubt he's writing about anything the club don't want him to write about

It does seem strange that myler said one of the things he needed to do was to bring the club closer to the fans yet he's done nothing at all about it
