Just watched the Salford - Catalans game from yesterday. Salford will absolutely take us to the cleaners. As will Catalans the following week.
After London's narrow loss yesterday, I guess points-difference has now come back into the equation as we bid to avoid finishing last.
After Friday's hammering, we now hold only a -49 point advantage over London. This is all ifs, buts and maybes, but If London were to lose their two remaining games by equally small margins (say 6-10 pts) and we collapse to a couple of 30-40pt defeats (entirely plausible given the current circumstances) then we could find ourselves truly rock bottom come season's end, even if London still lose both of their remaining games.
How on earth have we managed to paint ourselves into this corner? Desperately hoping we don't concede another fifty point mauling so that we are 'successful' in staying above a part-time glorified championship outfit! I hope everyone connected with the club are truly proud of how they have conducted themselves in 2024.
Even by the standards of recent years, I don't think I have ever felt so drained or dispirited at the end of a season. Week after week after week of watching a once great and proud club rip itself apart, to the point where it has come to this.
Of course I will still be renewing for next year (as one of the 2000!!
). Breaking a fifty year habit is not very easy and I personally still haven't hit rock bottom where my club is concerned. I'm just very VERY angry at how those charged with running my club are conducting their business
