DSJ1983 wrote:The way Catalans are playing there’s still a chance London could go there and get a win. Catalans are erratic at best and London always turn up and have a go, you’d think home advantage might shade it for Catalans but it will be close, can’t see it being anymore than by 6-12 points.

Looking at the table and fixtures I still think it’s possible we avoid the wooden spoon, realistically though we need to turn up on Saturday and have a real good dig and be aiming to keep within about 50 points of Salford, that will be difficult as they throw the ball wide and we can’t defend out wide. If we do keep within 50 and Catalans get the result it means we can afford to lose to Catalans by the same margin Warrington beat London at home, assuming Warrington still have something to play for that should be pretty comfortable for them. What a sad state of affairs to have to be looking like that at the points column to hope we finish above part time London.

Very true and depressing reading this, we held Wigan to a 14 or so point loss, if I our heads are right, no reason why we can't keep the Salford score down (although thought that about the Leeds game)

Just watched the Salford - Catalans game from yesterday. Salford will absolutely take us to the cleaners. As will Catalans the following week.

After London's narrow loss yesterday, I guess points-difference has now come back into the equation as we bid to avoid finishing last.

After Friday's hammering, we now hold only a -49 point advantage over London. This is all ifs, buts and maybes, but If London were to lose their two remaining games by equally small margins (say 6-10 pts) and we collapse to a couple of 30-40pt defeats (entirely plausible given the current circumstances) then we could find ourselves truly rock bottom come season's end, even if London still lose both of their remaining games.

How on earth have we managed to paint ourselves into this corner? Desperately hoping we don't concede another fifty point mauling so that we are 'successful' in staying above a part-time glorified championship outfit! I hope everyone connected with the club are truly proud of how they have conducted themselves in 2024.

Even by the standards of recent years, I don't think I have ever felt so drained or dispirited at the end of a season. Week after week after week of watching a once great and proud club rip itself apart, to the point where it has come to this.
Of course I will still be renewing for next year (as one of the 2000!!  ). Breaking a fifty year habit is not very easy and I personally still haven't hit rock bottom where my club is concerned. I'm just very VERY angry at how those charged with running my club are conducting their business :( :(

I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011.

Grix needs to play a hooker in the hooker position (balmforth) , a second row in the second row position (Lane) and play Walker and Smith as the halfs

So he needs to play a hooker at hooker, a second rower at second row, but then a full back and a hooker in the halves?

This is one of my worries about next year, regarding Cartwright (senior).

Everyone is hoping that Cartwright (senior) will be the one to come in and (finally) turn the club around, in terms of mind-set and attitude, but what if the effect is instead in the opposite direction!

Instead of Cartwright changing Hull Fc, the situation becomes where Hull Fc change Cartwright (senior)!!! and one of RL's most experienced coaches goes back to Australia a broken man, unable to remember even the very basics of a game he has studied for decades!!!

I seriously would not put it past the club, in its current state, to make that scenario come to pass!

So many signings we've made in the past few years look great in their first few games then succumb to our level of play once they lose that muscle memory of how to actually play rugby league and they lose the fitness from their previous clubs...lovodua and josh Reynolds are two prime examples that spring to mind

Well its been said many times, but we need a deep and complete overhaul and a mindset that is a million years away from where we are now as a club. Will Cartright Snr be the man? God only knows but he must be a brave man! This Saturday I have chosen not to go to the game. I am so low and sispirited as a fan and passholder since 1969. I go and get angry and feel low, why should I torture myself seeing my club die a death of a thousand swords. I will be there against Cats on the final game but only through gritted teeth. I think I feel better now for spilling my feelings online!

Terrible examples there Steve, not exactly like either Reynokds or Lovodua covered themselves in glory the seasons before they moved here and also after.
