People get on board with the underdog story getting a crack at winning something. It happened with Cas and again with Salford. People then get feel that everything is against them. I probably ave tinted glasses on but that first half KR we’re getting the rub of the green with the cherry on the cake being the late hit on Lewis (deserved pen but they go missing most games) it does normally even itself out by ft. Anyone arguing against the yellow are just deluded

We had ourselves on the ropes - handling errors, penalties and sloppy passes.

Wigan were utterly ruthless and showed how to target an edge and also to exploit playing against 12 men.

French’s try was sensational and you simply can’t plan to defend that. Nsemba is just a monster and it’s frightening to think of how good he could be when he’s only 20.

Conversely HKR were 15 mins away from winning and arguably would’ve done without the yellow cards. Literally every try was scored when they were down a man.

They’ll still feel confident they can beat Wigan home or away. Losing Evalds pre match was a blow too.

Was frustrating to watch the attacking quality on show when you support a team whose attack consists of 5 drives and a kick, a drop off pass or give it to Welsby and hope he can do something

I do feel Hull KR will still feel confident but I also feel we could have been so much better without ill discipline and poor ball retention. They offered little in attack but their ball retention was great, they gave us nothing on the whole aside from the 2 yellow cards (which I understand we’re massive). We looked dangerous all game imo, even against 13 men we looked more likely, our left edge had the upper hand all game, we also scored 5 tries to 3 and the scoreline would have been much wider had 3 of Keighrans kicks split the post when very close. I like to have a steady head when reviewing sport matches and not be biased (sometimes impossible not too) and for me that’s a bigger boost for Wigan than Hull KR, we’ve been poor for almost 2 months but that was much better, we also have lads coming back from time away, I think a game like that would be fitting for a Grand Final.

Don’t agree with that at all, I didn’t think at any point they had us on the ropes, I would say both were no brainer 2 pointers.

Journos like Aaron Bower are throwing lines around that Wigan needed the yellows to get the win and we possibly did but it felt pretty staggering at the game that we were 20-8 down. It was never a 20-8 game and we'd been our own worse enemy to get in that position but we kept making the breaks and eventually it told. The fact the first yellow comes from a professional foul on a long range Wigan break sort of summed up the game flow and how HKR were hanging in. To go 12 points up in a game your scrambling so much in was a credit to them but it's galling that a narrative is being thrown around that the better side lost, they really didn't!

I agree with you NK. We emptied their tank in the first half, they would have stalled much earlier had we minimised our errors/penalties. We dominated a large percentage of the rucks but got caught out with sucker punches. I think we will learn more from that game than HKR will. Having said that, HKR have been exceptional this season and I think they will improve in 2025.

We bust them open all game and they scrambled unbelievably well to hold out. It finished 9 clean breaks to 2 and 5 tries to 3. We lost the penalty count again and HKR get 2 yellow cards that are hardly controversial by today's standards.

Now that's out the way, it was a pleasure to be at the game. The atmosphere electric and the game absolutely superb. Some performances on both sides were outstanding. Fair play to Paddy Mago, I wondered if he may lose his place before the end of the season and he produces that! Superb.

I'm not usually one for "I told you so" but I really couldn't get the negativity around Mago or people suggesting he may miss out when everyone is fit. He's literally the best impact prop in the league and, as I've said previously, he rarely fails to make an impact. His minutes are, and always have been for mine, a complete irrelevance. We have plenty props who can do big minutes. Tonight he turned the match. Simple as that.

Good win that.
We aren’t the 2023 vintage but that took a lot of hard work and inventiveness to turn it around. Wardle was imperious when it really mattered.
HKR put an awful lot into that and it will be interesting to see how they perform next week.
Our defence first half was too slow and not aggressive enough. kR ruled the ruck for the first 30 minutes.
Some truly spectacular tries. At least 3 worthy of try of the season.
Some of the kids there tonight have a memory that will last them a lifetime. I’m pretty sure that in 20 years time some of them will regale about the game tonight.
Hopefully we still have enough in the tank to get our revenge on Leeds next week.
A game for Forber to forget but one for Nsemba to really state his case as the best second rower in the competition. He is in prime form and it’s a bit of of privilege to watch him the moment.
