Well done to Tex Hoy. He's gone really well at Cas and is clearly enjoying his rugby after Tony Smith shattered his confidence.

To be fair to Texy, he was pretty magnanimous when leaving us and had some fairly kind words about the club when told he was 'surplus to requirements.'
Shame we couldn't get him playing as well as he is now but reckon that's more to do with the bab he had round him during his stay.

Myler need to be looking at a new assistant for Cartwright cos my word this accountability avoiding clown is exhausting.

It’s nothing to do with motivation, it’s down to fatigue, these players are so unfit it is embarrassing, that ultimately comes down to the coaching which Grix has overseen from the moment he joined us.

Yet again our warm up was flat and just going through the motions, if that’s how they warm up before a game, what is it like in training?

Well, looking for at least one positive straw to cling onto; we didn't cave in completely when we were 6-24 down in the manner we were witnessing in the early part of the year. I was fearful around the thirty minute mark it was going to be another fifty point thumping, so at the very least that didn't materialise.

We managed to fight our way back into contention which energised the crowd to make some noise, and Herman's tackle bust and off-load for Carlos' try was worth the admission fee on its own.

But overall, simply not good enough. Some of the defence, particularly in the middle twenty minutes of the first half was woeful, even by the low standards of this dreadful year. In attack, again reflecting the year as a whole, some of our decision making, especially fifth tackle plays, defy description. We seem incapable of executing even the most basic of plays. Noticed another poster questioned what do they do in training throughout the week, my thoughts too. They look like they have never seen a rugby ball at times.

Another defeat, to a club who themselves had only won six games this year before today, but who I suspect were rubbing their hands in anticipation at meeting us.

The over-riding impression is that everyone at the club just wishes that someone would end the season for them right now and they don't have to bother anymore. But it's nothing compared to the wish we all have to erase 2024 from our collective memory. I never thought I would ever have to endure a season as bad as the one we suffered in 1999, but this team has managed it!!

What a pile of crap. What do they do all week? Attack awful, defence worse. Grix should feck off. He's as bad as tony smith.

Telling that the 2 biggest cheers of the day were for the bowling ball at half time and the try from the pitch invader.

I won't be going to the salford game

The standard of warm-up, or rather lack of, is indicative of the malaise/attitude/mindset that runs through the club in almost every aspect, from top to bottom. One example which reflects the wider issues which are dragging this club ever further downwards and backwards.

It smacks of a careless, lackadaisical, will-this-do attitude that would seem to be coursing through the club unchecked. The lack of accountability, from all those in positions of leadership, is merely another facet of this.

The 'cancer' that Shaun McRae alluded to, over twenty years ago now, would appear to be virulent, alive and still spreading through Hull Fc in 2024.

Its what i keep saying Seb if the clubs strategy is bringing in experienced players on longer contracts expecting that in 2/3 years we are suddenly going to have five or six of the younger players playing regular first team football is pie inthe sky and doomed to fail as it just wont happen.
The only two i can see who will make it and probably get better as they add a bit more weight are Barron and Martin.
The longer contracts for such average players will also hold back the club in what it can do in the recruitment market for 2026 when that really should have been the year the club showed some real intent in the recruitment market given Cartwright will have had a full season at the club to assess whats really needed
Thats now not going to happen unless we once again start offloading and paying off non performing players which i expect will happen because if he is the coach we need then it wont take him long to assess some of the dross Myler has brought in.
This club could sign Alan Carr as a ball handling halfback and some of the apologists of the club on here would find a positive even if it was just to keep the players on their toes in the dressing room

I said the same about the warm up. Players just wandering around aimlessly. I thought grix was going OK but we've gone backwards at a rate of knots in the last few weeks

I do worry the long term damage this does to Jack Charles, there’s no question there is talent there and as is well thought of by all at the club, but he is clearly not ready for first grade yet, especially physically. I know we are short of numbers in that area however I’d be considering bringing his season to an end today and just focus on coming back bigger and stronger for 2025.

That's the oddest pitch invasion I've ever seen. I couldn't quite make out what was going on. I was in the East and saw the lad run on the pitch and was chased by a woman. The stewards eventually caught him but couldn't remove him from the field. I noticed that Watts and the stewards were talking to him and after a long delay it looked like he was given the ball and allowed him score a try. I couldn't work out if the lad had learning disabilities or not. If he has I thought given the situation was handled pretty well.

Yes he had learning difficulties thats why there was no heavy handed approach
Giving him a ball was thinking out of the box and it worked a treat
