My concern with this club now is lack of ambition with a rookie promoted to the important DOR position because of his family connections
The club has not been pro active enough in the recruitment market and what has been brought in Asiata apart is lazy recruitment.and just adding fillers rather than quality players for the postitions we need.
This idea that in two /three years we will be fielding a competitive team full of home grown young players as regulars is a pipe dream and reminds me when the idea was to field a team of Hull born players.
The club has dug itself into such a deep hole and alienated a lot of its fan base so without a real strategy that doesnt rely on a large bunch of younger players coming good i can see next season also been written off after the first few games.
Personally think they have to go poop or bust.
Quote:Use the quota of Tuimavave to give us three quota spots and get the running half and quality centre we need.

We also could do with another big mobile forward whether used in the front row or second row.
If the signings are deemed to be exciting and quality that does two things
1) helps the club sell passes because if the club loses 2/3 thousand pass holders thats an aweful lot of money to lose
2) Means we can feed into a competitive team with some quality players around a young player occassionaly as it should be done
Will it happen?i dont think so as we seem to be now relying on Cartwright to come good and save the clubs skin by identifying and bringing the required players with him.
You can imagine Myler ringing a player or agent in Australia

Fans forums were always embarrasing, I don't understand why people go on about them.

The questions are always cringeworthy, most go but are too shy to ask anything. The club are not going to answer anything they don't want to.

And then it's rounded off with a crap version of Old Faithful.

Mike White: "Right, anyone got a question?"

<Silence>

MW: "Anyone?"

Me: "Er, yes - question for Jed please - how have you settled in and what's the differences between Super League and the NRL?"

Zzzzzzzzzz.

The one I remember is when Agar was on the panel and a fan asked him in so many words why the team he was coaching was so rubbish.

Perfectly reasonable question I thought. Agar made some excuses but no one was convinced.

Maybe Dan tomlinson could put fans questions to the club similar to the City one they had in the HDM.
At least the cr@p could be filtered.

I’m not going to say that Myler will be a great DOR because we simply don’t know yet, but like I said on the other thread there’s no real blueprint for what makes a great DOR, some of seemingly the best DOR appointments in recent years are not big names nor have previous experience in that role.

You made a scenario of Aussie agents and players maybe not knowing Myler, this is likely true but pound for pound the best performing DOR in recent years has to be Ian Blease especially managing to bring over Aussies who perform well. He’s had them punching well above their financial weight on the back of this. He’s not even close to being a household name. Chris Chester at Leigh another, they’ve made some cracking overseas signings. Agents simply don’t put the phone down if the DOR hasn’t played in Australia or a household name.. If it was that simple clubs would be fighting over the likes Martin Offiah, Ellery Hanley, Garry Schofield etc for DOR roles.

According to this article, the quality of player , you refer to, is not there.
Also when Myler took the post of DOR, a lot of the domestic recruitment was already done.
Also, we only have 2 quota places available,.
