If we have been in the market for Lam with a reported huge offer then i am seriously suggesting recruitment could have been better. Before the gang come on with the who would you have signed thats not my job but if it was my job i wouldnt have signed any of the players he has signed. We have already seen what Briscoe and Chamberlain have to offer so if that level is acceptable to fans then we are really in trouble both on and off the field. Much better to focus on quality than a quantity of average Joes Myler has gone for BOGOFs
I agree that personally I’d have wanted more quality, but I don’t know what budget Myler has to work with. To me it would still appear that we are working under financial constraints and will be yet again way under the cap with the players we’ve signed. People keep mentioning that we ‘offered Lam a huge contract’ and call me a cynic it’s easy to offer someone something you know they have no intention of taking, I did call that weeks and weeks ago on this thread the very first time Lam was mentioned.
The nepotism thing, yeah it’s hard to argue there isn’t some nepotism in the appointment but appointing a DOR isn’t quite the same as appointing a coach. Leeds have done recently with Blease but clubs don’t tend to go around poaching other clubs DOR, it’s often someone already in some kind of role at a club or an ex player or coach often without any previous experience of that specific role. Myler was a top level player and I’m sure it was said on a podcast recently that he has some kind of degree in sports management or something along those lines so it’s not exactly complete nepotism, he’s got the credentials you’d want, I’d call it more of a leg up.

Well Tom Briscoe has a degree in Sport & Exercise Science but that doesnt make him a great Physio. Myler may have been a decent player in his time but ill bet he is a complete unknown in Australia. Until i see him pulling in some real quality players and getting players in due to commercial abilty rather than easy pickings of his ex wedding guests then im dubious to say the least. Seems to me that he has now passed the buck to the new coach coming in

How do you know that Briscoe wouldn’t be a good physio? I’m sure I’ve seen it mentioned that he’s earmarked for some kind of conditioning role at the club.
The jury is out on Myler absolutely but you can’t judge a DOR 3 months into the job either way, especially when we don’t know what resources he has available. Like I say Blease is seen as the gold standard recently and as far as I know he didn’t have any previous track record as a DOR before Salford. He was given the job and proved a success over a period of years because he’s kept Salford competing.

I presume you need to do a physiotherapy degree to be a decent physiotherapist

A replacement for Ligi Sao is what we need, banned again, our discipline and his in particular is a showing up for the club. Paying him for sitting in the stand

I’d be surprised if John Asiata and Jordan Abdul were at his wedding.
‘Passed the buck’ is one way of saying ‘the new head coach has the say in who he signs’. Depends on how you want to spin it.

There's no doubting he's a good player and he's shown it at times this season but his indiscipline for such an experienced player is hurting us big time.
Still under contract for next season so replacing may be a problem.
