The amount of dropped ball in key positions gifted that game to Featherstone. 2 of their tries came from us dropping the ball in our own 10m area. Lilley hitting the post with a simple conversion also didn’t help. Farcical game management in the last 5 minutes.
Featherstone lost the arm wrestle and started with the niggle. We got sucked into it and lost our heads. Bottled it. Simple as that.

Nicely summed up. Very disappointing, but in no way surprising. We don't seem able to step up when it matters and I'm not really sure why. On paper the squad looks solid at Championship level but somehow we continue to fall short. The season isn't over yet. Hopefully onwards and upwards.

So many chances to win that game and time and again we coughed the ball up and handed possession in our half. EOC will be disappointed with some of the tries conceded as well, some soft defending at times.
I think overall the game probably deserved to be a draw but in the ended it was heavily influenced by the officials which is always disappointing. James Ford was on the pitch at HT confronting Worsley and his officials and he's got the rub of the green in that 2nd half with some controversial calls. The ball steal was the other side of the pitch to me but it seemed soft. Tafua he seems to enjoy sending off, once again you look at what went on in that game wonder how he has got to a sin bin especially at that point in the match.
But play smarter and we are never in a position where it costs us the match. Chalk that game off as another close game we gave failed to control and has proved costly.

I thought Worsley did alright TBH. He penalised Fev regularly for slowing down the PTB. He also dealt with the Bussey trip quickly.
That loss was mainly down to us dropping the ball too much. Their first two tries were down to our edge defence ball watching and Springer's try was helped by us not spotting the danger quick enough.
Holmes had a real off day with the bombs.
Despite all that if Lilley hadn't hit the post with a simple conversion we would've won.
What was Taufua binned for?

Perfectly put. Lawrence did his best to get round everyone and tell them not to get sucked into the niggle but certain players are not smart enough to listen.

Said to my lad at the time, give Lilley another 10 attempts at that and he kicks it everytime. A costly error that summed up the general sloppiness of the day. Fine margins that we have failed to be on the right side of too many times this year.
Reynolds 5/5. Lilley 2/4. Goal-kicking proving crucial. Again. That simple one where he hit the post, it makes it a slightly different game where Featherstone are chasing a try rather than waiting for a penalty to draw level.
Holmes too is putting us under pressure at the back. Today were difficult conditions but it's his job to catch those. He dropped a couple against Widnes too that resulted in tries so I don't think it was an "off day".
Feel really deflated. Second spot was there for the taking but we've imploded again.

Holmes has struggled this year for form but it was always going to be tough to just slip back into top gear after the health issues. Wonder if Franco will get an opportunity next week, I assume he is fit, perhaps Holme would benefit from a rest. Or perhaps Lehmann who hasn't been in great form either.
Great result for Fev though which they will rightly celebrate when they see the game on YouTube! Joking aside it must have been the smallest following from Fev we have seen, the club was clearly expecting more to open the Rooley end.
I’m completely fed up with this. The players we have should be finishing off games like this. That’s 5 games we’ve lost by a point or drawn this season.
