Just to give an idea of the difference, the NRL receive over $400m (aussie, £200m ish in real money) a year for media rights. SL got what? £27m over 3 years? It's not even remotely comparable

I agree, its almost to the point where I believe the opposite of what he says. I would not be at all surprised to find out in the end there is no investor.

if there wasn't an investor we wouldn't have myler here and smith would still be coach. pele, okunbor and tindall would have continued to serve up championship performances in our 1st team

There is an investor. Don't need to worry about that!

Seasons of false promises from Pearson, fans won't believe him and will wait until recruitment is done, so he is wasting his time with these statements, it has to be backed up.
said last week its time for Lord Lucan Pearson to come on with the rallying call and he didnt disappoint.. Trouble is he could have just cut and pasted what he said last last season about recruitment. I would have waited though till after the London game Win and he gets a better response Lose and he can say nothing for a couple of weeks and work on his speech

They also dont stand still and have just appointed a Marketing executive. the role is
About the role As part of the Fan Experience team, success in this role will see you deliver effective sales and marketing strategies across all consumer products to major events and deliver impactful marketing campaigns to drive commercial sales, brand health, and audience growth.
This is what we need instead of the Spreadsheet Charlies at IMG Marketing is key to growing any business and R/L is no different yet the RFL dont seem to understand the importance of Marketing yet are prepared to spend circa £500,000 with IMG with no meaningful return

I remember for the 2013 World Cup Semis at Wembley the game paid to use a marketing agency and the result was a big 67k crowd and the game was superb so any new fans would have gone home excited about RL. Did England book a new game at home quicky and get the agency back on board to promote? No they didn't play at home for 2 years
SL should be centrally managing the billboard, bus stop, radio ads etc most of the clubs aren't capable. The game seems to just email a database of emails addresses it started in the 00s and that's that

We paid off likely much bigger contracts in Reynolds, Evans, Fonua etc when we were not hiding the fact we were skint. I honestly have no idea the type of wages that Ock and Pele were on but maybe we didn’t take too much of a hit. Bradford wanted them and they’ve seemingly thrown a decent amount of cash recently for players.
Smiths position was simply untenable really, there’s no way Pearson could have stuck with him investor or no investor. Teams in financial trouble have sacked coaches before as they gamble to get results.
I’m not claiming to be in the know but the hinting at investment has done the job and took some of the pressure off and I certainly sympathise if it was just a ploy, I want AP to do whatever it takes to keep us going as a club. The word toxic has been thrown about a lot recently but if we’d have carried on without the changes in April the club would be beyond toxic.

The problem with RL expansion is a lack of money and patience. I actually think Crusaders were onto something in Wrexham. As the Hollywood Football owners have spotted it's a big town with not a lot going on and a wider catchment area to the north Wales coast to attract. But by the time Crusaders ended up there money was tight, there was a drama over visas and it all ended just as they were making the playoffs on the field.
Catalan has worked but crucially they were playing RL there for like 100 years and the 3 years exemption from relegated let them plan and build.
Toronto was a complete farce never going to work with those travel distances and they couldnt even play at home for the first few weeks of a season.
With the benefit of hindsight Maurice Lyndsey was into something when he suggested SL needed teams in big catchment areas but soon as the word merger was used there was uproar. Had SL just created new teams in Cumbria, Manchester, Newcastle and Liverpool and got on with it who knows where the game would be.
