'The Club' has made a right shitshow of things in the last five years or so and as much as I will always be grateful to Adam Pearson for taking the club on, there hasn't been much success. Eternal optimism is for the young and inexperienced.

These days I tend to prepare for the worst to minimise the disappointment that is almost certain to come. I will of course be overjoyed if I am proven wrong, for despite my lack of optimism or confidence I still love my club.

You can't have been following rugby league for very long. Back to back Cup wins in 10 years is the most success this city has seen in 40 odd years. Thank you Mr Pearson!

Club cant win, they don't sign anyone and we have Lane, Fash and Houghton starting next, so they sign some experienced players in a tough market after starting recruitment a couple of month after everyone else.

Add in the fact people don't really want to move to the city and the position the club are in, I'm not sure how we can sign better.

We have signedvone of the most influential players in SL, along with a few others who are better than our current 17.

Club have tried to sign Lam, Whitehead and Sailor who all choose to sign or stay at clubs in a much better position short term.

Not really sure who people think we should have signed, not easy making such big changes to the squad in the short term.

Overall think Myler has gone a good a job as he could, Cust is maybe the exception, but it seems to be influenced by our new coach.

New coaches can make a huge difference look at Rowley and there squad, he has got (what would have been average players) playing to their best of their ability, players like Brieley, Cross and even Watkins, who ifcwe had signed when they were available would have been heavily critisesd.

Peters is another who had got players playing their best form of their career, hopefully Cartwright can have a similar impact.

I dont think the crowds will dwindle too much either, 30 quid to get in and playing in 11th still sees crowds around 10k mark. If the boo boys go home that could be what the club needs.

You look at KR players they had now finished bottom with them and its only since theyve turned into internationals theyve attracted better players.

I more then anyone would want us to announce some top line signings but given the position we are in and the negetivity in the stands I cant see it happening until those things change. Having young kids who hurt the same as we do is the way forward but they cant play everyweek.

I know Cust isnt the greatest half back out there but he in my opinion would provide better cover then Charles and morgan smith for next year at least.

Weve got to build and it has to be small blocks at a time. When we won the cup we never struggled for a signing and im sure we will get there again.

Cartwright I believe will be an astute head coach of a signing who will raise the intensity of training and what it means to get a matchday jersey. While the young kids have being great it hasnt being difficult for them to surpass the former players in the team and that in itself can be a dangerous cycle.

When you like at Robertson at Saints he has to surpass Welsby and now Sailor. Where as Moy only had to do it to Hoy and Walker, completely differerent ball game. I think the signings we made will make us slightly more competitive and have more leaders in the group. That said I wont be booking any final tickets!

there is no way circa 10000 fans in the ground for the last coulple of home games

Don't think there was any update in the Lam situation?

Dont worry Adam will be on soon with his annual back us speech as we have built a team that will really compete and the usual will be taken in once again

Whilst things aren't much fun at the minute, I do think people have a tendency to overexaggerate. Margins in professional sport are very small, and it often doesn't take much to turn a clubs fortunes (for better or worse). The priority in the wake of Smith's sacking was making sure we made the right appointment, and I'm happy with the one we made. I think Cartwright seems like the perfect guy to sort out the fitness and discipline and get us really fighting for one another, and if we get those things right then it should give us a solid foundation to build from.

Asiata is an excellent signing. The rest have a bit of a journeyman feel about them granted, but they aren't terrible players, they just aren't "bums on seats" signings, that's all. If they can give us a bit of stability to get us on the right track and allow the youngsters to develop then they will have served their purpose. It's going to take at least 2 more recruitment cycles after this one to put a properly competitive squad together.

I wouldn't say I'm excited about next season, but I am happy that the club is in better hands than it was and we are taking little steps in the right direction. I know fans don't want to be told to be patient, but there's nothing else for it I'm afraid because it isn't getting fixed overnight.

Whislt i am far from being a HKR fan i do appreciate what a good team looks like and whether you like it or not they are a good team.
Take a look at the league table my bitter friend and whether they win anything this season i am not bothered but the fact is they have a good coach, very proactive as a club and play attractive R/L with a well structured defence and offence if you understand what that is
