He was here for 5 weeks.
Mik hasn’t been injured in that time, nor Macdonnell?
I would like to have kept Eseh, I still think there’s a possibility tbat we could get him off Wigan for next year.

Well one thing Smith did show is that its possible to get rid of players who are contracted if there's a will to do it. None of the players he shunted out were a big loss. Sadly too many of the replacements are poor and the wrong type of player. I can't see us doing enough of a cleanout to fix next year, but if we start making better decisions and younger players develop the longer term looks good.

I’d like Eseh plus a starting calibre prop ideally.
We are desperate for a different type of back row. Especially with Martin going.
I don’t think that’s a big ask considering we can use Hall/edgell/ Smith/Mcormack for the Fus wing berth. Eseh wouldn’t be unobtainable I don’t think. Big NRL prop and back row with the two quota spots, then give Arthur a preseason to weed out the weak.
My only other thought would be he might look at his sons, Matt’s a hooker, which would allow us to use O’Connor at 13, and Jake is a half, but I think he’s just signed for Manly.
Realistically looking at Arthur’s eels teams they were built around massive packs. Paulo, Campbell-Gillard, Lane and previously guys like Nathan Brown. If Arthur stays that’s his teams blueprint so I’d imagine that’d be where he’d start.

That’s all presuming Arthur stays, as Ive said on the Salford match thread, I’m not convinced bringing in Arthur for him to leave after ten games will actually do us much good in the grand scheme of things.

if he does stay, and I hope he does, I think a full preseason will see a huge difference next season. it will take that long to erase smiths shortcomings and make them more cohesive and mentally stronger

Bringing in BA was the correct decision, however I have a feeling he won’t commit to a three year contract. Balance of probabilities Rowley will be the next coach. Just a wild guess but if BA goes back to Australia Rowley is the best option, I would rather steer clear of Australian assistant head coaches thank you very much.
