With the transfer window just closing the following was posted earlier this week on Love Rugby League on what clubs can and can’t do after the deadline regarding DR and Loans.
Entitled: “Everything you need to know about Super League’s transfer deadline day including loopholes and loan deals.” “Super League clubs – and indeed teams in Championship and League 1 – are in the process of getting their final transfer business done for 2024, with the deadline of this Friday fast approaching.
A number of deals are still to be concluded, and will likely be done so right down to the final few hours of deadline day on Friday August 2 itself.
But there are plenty of details about the day itself that you may not know, and a number of points which supporters should be aware of. Rugby league’s own deadline day is not quite like its football equivalent: not least in terms of fanfare, but also in terms of details.
Here’s the key things you need to know.
Is there a time on deadline day for deals to be done?
No. Again, this is a situation where rugby league’s transfer deadline is unlike football. There’s often a lot of hype around a specific point in the day when deals have to be concluded by in football but in rugby league, it’s slightly different.
Clubs can complete a deal at any time before 11:59pm on Friday August 2, so long as the relevant paperwork is completed. There is no point in the day when a cut-off is imposed.
In simple terms, you have until the clock ticks over to Saturday August 3 to get a deal over the line.
What about for those clubs playing on Friday?
There is only one game on Friday, but it is a mouthwatering one, with Warrington Wolves hosting Hull KR in a battle of Super League’s top two.
However, there are no extra provisions or allowances for any clubs that wish to do business who are playing on deadline day despite them having a game.
They will have to adhere to the same rules as everyone else.
How do loan deals work?
Any loans that are struck between now and the end of the window can still be terminated before the end of the season.
There are likely to be more players who leave on short-term loan arrangements in the coming hours and days, but it doesn’t necessarily mean they will spend the remainder of 2024 away from their parent club.
Loans can be terminated after an initial two-week period, just like throughout the regular season, and they can return to their parent club. They will not, however, be allowed to leave on another loan deal.
Do different divisions have a different deadline?
No. All business must be concluded by 11:59pm on Friday August 2.
How will dual-registration work?
Clubs can still send players out on dual-registration after the deadline with their allotted partner clubs: but there is a catch.
Any player has to have featured for that dual-registration club four times before the deadline of Friday August 2 to be able to continue to head out on dual-registration.
Anyone who has played fewer than four times must be loaned out if they wish to continue playing elsewhere. So expect to see young players aplenty being loaned out to lower-league sides – most of them their parent club’s dual-registration partner – between now and the weekend.” End.
Regarding the numbers the following is taken from the RFL 2024 Match Day Rules Document page 10 & 11. “Before each First Team Match in all Competitions each Club must declare the 21 Man Squad of players it will choose from for that Match. For the avoidance of doubt, Clubs do not have to declare a 21-man squad for a Reserve Match.
Clubs cannot declare players who are not correctly registered with the RFL. Dual Registered and Loan players must be included in the 21 Man Squad, subject to the maximum permitted numbers (i.e., 5 Loan and/or Dual Registered Players and 4 Dual Registered Players. End.

So based on that article it seems to suggest that watton and littlewood are now on loans given that they have only featured a couple of times for fax . Unless they’re just named in the 21 to pad the squad out and other players ie foster and Hudson will replace them in the future.

Based on that article yes they must be on loan to us for this weekend and for a minimum of 2 weeks before they can be recalled but if they are then called back at anytime after that 2 week period then that’s it, they can’t be loaned out again as the same article said this.
Quote: “Loans can be terminated after an initial two-week period, just like throughout the regular season, and they can return to their parent club. They will not, however, be allowed to leave on another loan deal.” End.

We have to explore the possibility also that the club simply don't know the rules. I mean we have previous.

I was just trying to be informative regarding the rules, how they would impact on our playing squad and find out what had happened to Hudson incoming.
Which if the above is correct we only have 1 DR player that qualifies as per the 4 game rule which is Corey Johnson.
The other players named in the 21 Tom Nicholson-Watton, Ben Littlewood and Kai Morgan must be on loans as will Hudson if it gets announced later on and in their case it seems the loan deals must be in place before the deadline and if they are recalled after the 2 week period then they can't come back.
In a conversation yesterday the prospect of the club not knowing or getting mixed up with the difference between DR /Loans came up.
Listenup spoke to a contact at Fax and asked what had happened to the Hudson incoming, the first guy wasn't sure so spoke to someone more in the know regarding signings and he was told it was in connection with the DR / Loan rules as Listenup posted so we will just have to wait and see.

You can see it, can't you? We avoid relegation but then get points deducted for breaking the rules!!
Having said that, weren't Littlewood and Watton-Hall non playing squad players for the Fev game, so the squad being announced for the York game before the deadline means they have both technically been available Fax players for 4 games? Just a thought!

Also we need to keep in mind that whilst Fax might screw things up these are Leeds players and they would take the lead in getting the correct deals in place so they would need to screw up as well.
If those in the squad turn out today you would have to think that everything is in order and whether Hudson comes onboard just have to wait and see.
