If we put a decent team on the park whoever start winning games regularly people will come back
I'm not convinced it's as easy as that anymore. You're right in that, ultimately, a winning team is the best selling point any club could have, but we have been so average/poor for so long now that I think a sizable portion of ex-attendees would need more than a few wins to tempt them back.
It's now essentially seven years since we were last a decent proposition, seven years in which we have continued to go backwards year on year. That is a lot of downhill travel to turn around. For those people who, for whatever reason, are now choosing not to attend in person, I reckon it will take a period of sustained success to bring them back and that will not be easy given our current position.
The worst part is that we have dug this hole for ourselves, all of our own doing, without any help from outside sources. From a position of some strength to being a club merely making up the numbers. It will take an awful lot of hard graft to convince some people that we are once more a serious contender, and not just another brief flash in the pan.
