Lam interview sounds to me like we all expected from the off that he’s close to a new Leigh deal. On his future “We're working on some stuff and I'm not really in a position to comment on that too much. We're working on some stuff at the moment so hopefully we can clear that up in the next week or so."
If he was leaving I’d expect him to just no comment it. I’m glad we’ve seemingly shown some real ambition and gone for it but it was never going to happen so hopefully we can move on soon, hopefully the NRL merry go round at the end of the season might throw up a couple of players not previously though to be available. Think it really does need to be a 6 or 7 though, we need that bit of X factor.
I think Lam was always staying at Leigh, just doing what his old man has done and using links to other clubs to get more money. It was nice to be linked with him as he's a very good player but if we are looking at moving Trueman on we need a proper running 6, someone like Kelly would be ideal (we can dream).

Not reading too much into that interview, was surprised that Dan Tomlinson / Matt Shaw felt it worthy of writing a whole article over.

When Lam says he loves it at Leigh and never wanted to leave after he puts pen to a bumper new contract he has the decency to thank Hull for helping him get it.
Myler will be smart enough to know whether Lam is interested or not in joining the club from the chats he has had, so I can't imagine all our eggs are in his basket, and are actively looking for another half using one of the available quota spots. If we get Lam, great, but if not, we know there is a fair wedge we can use to target another half

Hopefully we will have a contingency plan unlike Smiths plenty of time and options ploy. That worked well.

Sailor would have been ideal. I think it’s obvious that Lam was never really interested in a move to another SL club as Saints would have been all over it if so, instead they’ve gone and got Sailor.
We made Lam a very good offer by all accounts, but you can’t force someone to sign if they have no intention of playing for the club. I know people have accused the club of bluffing with stuff like this before, but it does seem that we really do have money available for the right top class player/players, big sign the financial situation looks a lot better.

To be fair you can read his interview one of a few ways and in fairness I wouldn't have expected him to say much different, a no comment would just add fuel to the situation. If he comes its a huge signing but if he doesn't then at least the club are trying and it appears that a top half is on the list of priorities. It may well be why there is little in way of rumour on the last quota spots, if Lam signs we still have 2 free spots, if he doesn't we'll need to use one for a top class half especially if the rumour of Trueman to Wakey has some substance behind it.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!
