Not saying we should throw daft money around, but the names above would be a huge upgrade on what we have, in areas we clearly need, but we appear not to have even been in the conversation. I'd like to think Blease will change this.
Well Blease certainly has not changed anything on this one

Tom Burgess would not be a huge upgrade on anything but the catering budget. He's been awful this year for Souths, and playing far fewer minutes than he used to. Maybe he'll get a new lease of life in SL, but he looks shot to me. JWH will either look a genius signing or one of the worst ever. He'll need to tone it down in SL or he'll spend long periods suspended. Neither were available this season anyway. Thompson might have been a miss but I thought his defence in the NRL was awful, and I wouldn't throw big money at him.
What we need is the kind of forwards that Leigh and others have picked up, not big names as such. Like Lisone but bigger and better. Hopefully Arthur will know players that fit the bill.
Yes we need a bigger pack , but Martin is a decent size for 2nd Row , a hard worker , skilful and a great kicker , no doubt we will finnish up paying more for a lesser player .
Not just disappointing losing him but shows we are behind a club such as H.K.R by a long way .
I was already considering giving up my season ticket due to the number of Saturday games (which i can't attend ) this has probably just convinced me to do so .
The goal kicking is the big loss for me. We really need a big metre munching and hard to handle 2nd row to play alongside McDonnell / Gannon / Bentley.

Business as per normal, we are a mid table club and continue to be a mid table club. Martin is one of the outstanding players of the modern game. A big bonus is the fact he can play Centre also a superb goal kicker and usually keep’s clear of injuries.

Completely agree with this JWH will spend more time banned than playing in SL.
Martin, whilst being a great player, is part of a problem we have of a small backrow. That's proved by the fact he is moved to centre rather than prop when we're short in both. Its a shame we missed out of Fitzgibbon, as he's a good size.
Personally I'm looking forward to seeing what Blease can do. If Arthur stays on, perhaps we could look at a couple of the Eels players they're currently looking to move on. Regan Campell Gillard and Shaun Lane would be exactly what we need.
Martin will be 32 in March; although he has a few good years left in him he is also moving towards the back end of his career. We have had good service from him but agree with Exiled, we need to beef up that pack, and it's not just a prop problem.
We need more size, more pace and more skill if we're going to break out of this mid-table mediocrity.
I do think Martin is a very solid player, very consistent and injury-resistant... I just think Leeds need a re-vamp. If we can get two really decent forwards with Arthur's help, it will take us a big step forward.

We'll need three forwards and kicker in order to be certain we progress as a team. Not impossible, but will certainly be a challenge. Think we'll also likely have to offload one of Miller, Mom, or Frawley.

Slightly off topic, hand on heart how many players in our current squad would be described as top notch players. In my opinion very few, which makes our rebuild programme harder than normal. The home game so called match experience and the clubs off field running of the club, which is excellent ,means quite a few people will still attend in spite of the teams lack lustre performances. Prior to super league a few poor seasons would mean a sharp fall in attendances.
