And? I'm not responsible for the contract offer. I said I wouldn't offer him much more than he's currently on. I think the club share that view.

Agreed. For all we know, the first offer may have been for less than his current contract, and then the improved offer could have been for the same money as his current contract. Only the club and Rhyse really know.
It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.

So we needed to add to Martin , now we have to replace him with someone as good plus another as good or better . I won't hold my breath

Let's not forget, Martin was a reserve grader with less than 30 NRL games by the time he was in his mid 20s, all whilst playing for one of the weakest teams in that comp. Yes, he's been great for us, but he's in no way irreplaceable.

Obviously nobody near Martin’s experience at goal kicking.
Other than Sinfield (who seems a way off forcing his way in the 1st team) I don't think any of others are qualified. Miller misses more than he kicks in warm up, and in any case given the development he requires in the rest of his game, the last thing he needs is that kind of pressure. Unless we want to take a big step backward in perhaps the only facet of the game where we have an edge on the competition we'd have to bring one in as a guaranteed starter.
