No, that’s not how penalty tries work mate. A penalty try is awarded if you can beyond reasonable doubt (in the opinion of the ref) say a try would have been scored but for the foul. A try scoring opportunity just means there was an opportunity to score a try that was unfairly stopped, and not that he was certain to score. This wasn’t deemed a penalty try because Dufty was close enough to potentially stop it from being scored, but there was clearly an opportunity for him to a score if he hadn’t been taken out.

This is a really good point, straight after the try was given I was expecting the Ref to ping Percival but seem scoring a try lets you off.

A lot of whinging about the red card which 1) wasn’t Kendall and 2) was the correct decision. The yellow was correct. The forward pass for our try was correct. The biggest incorrect decision was the Percival no try. Thought the only thing annoying about Kendall on Friday was his insistence on going to the screen for everything. Most of the big calls, he got right.
I agree ref bashing is boring to read - imagine having to STILL put up with posts on that issue that date back to 2019???
As I Wigan fan I thoroughly enjoyed the game (not just because of the result) I thought Wire showed they are now building a team spirit that could be hard to break down, especially in tight games, I thought Saints got the better side of the ref calls (sorry Reaper) but Saints were really poor in almost everything they did, they were relying on Welsby running across the line looking for a gap, but Wire stood firm.
The new messiah at full back didn't show up to his hype (expected as he is still young and I still expect him to go on to be a better player) but the Sky commentators should just concentrate on the game in hand and not spend most of the time waxing lyrical over a player, especially one so young and inexperienced, anyone tuning in for the first time would wonder who the hell they were talking about as it couldn't be the error strewn (or so it appeared to me) full back on display that day.
Can someone also tell me if Saints have some injuries at the moment, as it is a bit unclear from the commentary team, I wasn't sure if I heard them mention something about Saints having some players out (yet all their spine players playing) but I may have missed it

Nope never heard any mention of injuries the whole match. Did hear feel sorry for Wellens a couple of times though.

They had the luxury of selecting one their regular halfbacks as a substitute.
They could have played Welsby at fullback and Dodd at 7, which would have given them all their spine in the correct positions.
Agree about Robertson, his time will come, bur he looked very ordinary when Dufty went past him for his try.

Hit all the rugby league fan soapbox checklist with that one
[X] [Team I dont like] got all the referee calls [X] Omg that Sky [Team I dont like] love-in was disgusting [X] That [Player from team I dont like] is so overrated [X] Why are Sky only mentioning injuries from [Team I dont like] and nothing about the players [Team I like] have out!
It's funny, take a gander at the comments by every team's fans (yes, fully including saints fans) every week and it's the same script every time. It's almost like this stuff isn't biased at all and RL fans are uniquely prone to whinging for the sake of it.
On a serious note, I agree with your summation of both the Wire performance and ours. We were incredibly rubbish with ball in hand and I don't see it getting better this year.
On the Sky coverage, it's a bit crap. It's been crap for a really long time, although I'd argue that it's been slightly less crap this season when compared to the last 5 at least. I also found the Matt Peet close access cringe last week, and ditto the Sam Burgess close access cringe this week, but I won't criticise too much as at least they're trying new stuff to keep things fresh. It won't all work. Hope they sack it off soon though
