Whatever the reasons were behind that performance, I think we can just leave it behind us and it'll probably be one we look back on as actually doing us some good if anything. The side now knows they can be beaten by pretty much any side in this comp if we don't turn up with the right energy/attitude and I doubt we'll see anything like it again for the rest of the season.

On a side note, it was a very short cameo at the end from Liam Byrne but that looked like the Liam Byrne who took Catalans pack apart in Perpignan last year. He looked like a man who was not happy that he'd been given so few minutes to me and hopefully it kicks him in to gear. That Liam Byrne could be massive for us over the rest of this season.

The Liam Byrne at Catalans is memorable because it’s one of the rare occasions he has done anything of note. I hope Peet is ruthless and gets rid at the end of the season, we’ve been waiting around for him to develop but with more rule changes for tackle technique coming in I just don’t think he is worth persevering with.

btw great travelling support, amazing what saturday/sunday games can do for the longer trips away

One of my favourite away games. A great stadium and no queues for the bar!
As far as the game goes if that was our bad one in 2024 at least it wasn’t too costly. Every team has its ups and downs. We are lucky that we have significantly more ups than most.

He was good for a decent spell around that game but I can't sit here and say that he's ever pulled together a full season or even half a season like that and it's always been his challenge to find a level of consistency. You may we'll prove to be correct in terms of him adapting to those tackle height changes but as with any player, the club won't 'just get rid' and I'm sure he'll be here for a while yet (and rightfully so IMO) and he'll get the chance to adapt. In prop terms he's still relatively young and he has shown enough in his Wigan career to think he can get better, as most props do when they get to 25/26/27.

Might have been a bug going around the Wigan camp, but Jack Charles for Hull was blowing chunks on the pitch around the 20 minute mark as well. Very humid day

Looks like no further action re. Dupree, Harrison given two matches for Wire after his red card

Really impressed with Charles on the day. I've seen him a couple of times and he's struggled a bit but now the side is playing better and he had a good effort from the forwards to play on the back of, he looked far more comfortable. Fingers crossed he can be a player Hull can build around for the future like KR are doing with Lewis. Also stumped if I know why Litten hasn't been playing much recently.

O Neil one was a lot different and definitely worse as the player "landed on his neck/head" whereas the Dupree one didn't.

So are you saying Dupree should be banned or O Neil shouldn't have been?

I personally don't think the Dupree one is a sinbin, but can just about see the argument for O Neil sin binning, but not ban.

I'm saying Keighran wasn't banned and neither was Dupree - with a bit of tongue in cheek. I was surprised Keighran's ban was overturned TBH.

If any lifting is to be outlawed then penalise it every time, the current rule of thumb seems to be based on the outcome of the tip. O'Neil caused the player's head to hit the ground fairly hard, Keighran's caused slight contact with the ground and Dupree's was a fairly soft landing.
