Not really. Hull could speak to his representatives, sound him out and make him an offer without leaking to the press that they’ve done so. How do we know it’s not his agent feeding those stories to the press? We don’t, I could be wrong but the HDM article especially has the hallmarks of the club feeding the info for me. The same with the Sailor ones last week and going back to the Rowley situation and how that broke. Short of announcing it on the official socials the club are as good as saying look at how ambitious we are. I’m not criticising that approach, I like been kept in the loop and the transparency but it’s open to criticism is those moves don’t come off.

Lam himself is on a marquee contract at Leigh, as the federation trained marquee player. Armstrong will be on decent money, but not sure it will be marquee money, or as much as Lam is on.
I think he just wants out. His job at Leigh next year could be more difficult than this year, without Asiata making him space and O'Donnell and Leutele running lines outside him. So a move will help build his reputation further and get his NRL deal.

Seems a bit of a coincidence that the same say the press announce Sailor chooses Saints over us, a story gets leaked to say we are after Lam.
Armstrong is and will be on mega money at Leigh. Believe the reporters is Aus were shocked at the amount of money Leigh offered and Newcastle simply did not or could not compete with it
