I mean it was nearly double in favour of Wakefield and often in kicking range, I'd say that was pretty one sided! Add in a sin bin that pretty much killed the game. Wakefield are clearly the best side in the league by some distance, any side facing them is going to need a 50/50 share of decisions to stay in the game. I thought the officiating was inconsistent to put it politely.

Regarding the injuries it seemed a strange thing for Powell to whinge about when the side he was facing had similar numbers missing and also playing with 1 half!

Thought Wakefield ground the game out well and with Gale pulling the strings their ends of sets were far better better. Our kicking wasn't as precise and like many games this year we end up gifting possession with kicks that don't challenge the opposition enough.

We might have had a couple of scores and grabbed an unlikely draw if we'd been a bit more clinical. Our one chance in the first half saw the ball go past Fulton to Lehmann when Fulton had a clear run to the line. In the second Okunbor might have got in the corner if the two players passing in the line toward him hadn't had to juggle with the ball.

Not sure how Okunbor got the official man of the match award even if he was solid enough. IMHO Taufua worked harder than him. My man of the match would've been Souter who worked his backside off doing a full 80 yet his passing was always on target.

On the minus side Mason looks as if he needs to shed quite a bit of weight. He looked ponderous and was targeted by the Wakefield attack around the ruck. Has he played no rugby in the past year? Thought Bayliss did ok but was blowing hard after his first 20mins, another that needs some time to get match fitness.

We missed some invention at halfback. Lilley was skipper but having everything coming off him isn't going to threaten a well organised defence. Ott was alright but he's not a halfback. We struggled to create chances for the backs, Gill and Lehmann hardly got any decent early ball.

All in all it was a decent effort and I wasn't too disappointed with the loss.

In fairness, that last penalty we had was after the full-time hooter. So Wakefield literally had double the amount of penalties than us. I'll have to watch the game back as I can be vexed about a decision, watch it back and find out the referee is correct. However whenever we get an SL ref, they seem very keen to make themselves known, and become very erratic with their decisions. Stark contrast to the young referees we've had in recent weeks. The game didn't need to be that stop start and ruined what could have been a great game IMO Wakefield fully deserved winners though.

That said we're certainly nicely placed in fourth and have played the likely top two now. We've earned a point from Toulouse and kept runaway leaders to one try, despite numerous injuries (Wakey obviously missing a shed load too) we're nicely placed for the rest of the season. We need Gaskell back ASAP though.

'We've earned a point and scored the same amount of tries in the match as the runaway leaders'

You didn't earn a point, and you didn't score a try...are you talking about a different game?

To be honest in the highlights early in the game it looked like Doro got the tackle wrong and raised his forearm/elbow into both Rodwell and split his cheek and also split the Bulls players face open too. It’s not very clear on video but certainly looks like Doro was lucky it was missed and could have possibly been a straight red. Might be a ban coming for that one.

I didn’t see an issue with many of the supposed top tackles on either side. They didn’t go over horizontal for trinity or bulls. Certainly none that were dangerous.

Thought the Trinity defence won that. There was a lot of pressure and chances you had on the Trinity line that Trinity did well to keep Bulls out.

Thought it was a stop start scrappy game overall but happy to come away with 2 points as Bulls have been playing quite well lately.

Taufua did a shed load of work in his carries.

I've looked at that several times, and I really cant see anything wrong with it at all, form either side. Certainly don't see Doro raise his forearm. If it results in a ban, it'll be another shocker on behalf of the disciplinary panel.

Don't think i'm biased...
...i'm just very narrow minded!!!!!!!

Wakefied only played with half whilst the hooker did 80 mins.in fact 2 subs never actually went on due to state of play and them been kids

Smith did get on for last 5 minutes but it wasn’t really a game for him tbh.

I’ve had another look and there didn’t appear any head clash but I went frame by frame and it does look like Doro as he’s bumped back his arm goes high over the shoulder. It’s not very clear but that what I can see. The footage is at a distance and not great so might get away with that one. Doro does seem a bit of a liability in defence for you guys though. It doesn’t really matter so much now though.

York could be a bit of a banana skin as they seem to have sorted themselves out recently.

We may see another Trinity vs bulls match up in the playoffs. Good luck for the season and maybe we’ll see you then. Hopefully a less scrappy and more entertaining game.
