Really enjoyed that and not just for the win. Both sides going at each other and the young lads on both sides showing their frailty at times being so inexperienced but also having a major impact as the game went on. Eckersley though as a fullback and his athleticism seems a great fit for that position even with the talent we already have there. He can hopefully be someone like Tom Trbojevic for us, being able to play well in a range of positions. I’m sure the coaches are very proud tonight.
Two great games in two weeks - very enjoyable. Saints were great but Wigan are a very tough and resilient side these days. Not pretty and I doubted we would have enough points in us to get through it but Zach Eckersley was the difference. Players staying down looking for penalties and cards was the downside but inevitable given the way the game is refereed now.
I still think it will be tough for us in the coming weeks to manage without both French and Field - I don't believe the LLS is won yet.

It was very frustrating seeing players go down after minimal contact on both sides I agree.
I think if we get a 9 back we can cope without our 2 game breakers for a few weeks though.

I thought both coaches spoke sense after the game. The game could have gone either way. I thought Sironen was immense for them and Harry Smith excelled second half for us. Hopefully Marshy practices his crossfield kicking this week

I reckon adrenalin must've taken over there, a dink into open space and we had a queue of players waiting to score, instead he nearly boots it into Robin Park, good job it didn't matter in the end

The strange thing is he is normally excellent in those situations I actually can’t remember one he’s got wrong and most have been much tougher to execute than the one he had tonight.
Has to be said though both he and Miski were excellent again tonight in those tough key effort areas that they both excel in.

I think both sides will walk away really happy with that nights work. The rest of the league less so! Both sides missing some huge players and they drop in Robertson, Eckersley, Farrimond, Stephens etc and they don’t miss a beat.
On a less positive note, both sides should be embarrassed with all the lying down and so should the powers that be! We’re breeding this and it will get worse. I thought we did our best to avoid it earlier in the season but we got hammered doing that and have decided if we can’t beat them, we’ll join them. The whole game needs a reset.
Finally on a more positive note, Welsby forgot to watch the tape of Harry Newman blowing kisses at Headingley last season. Never go too early!
I thought there were a few forward passes let go. Robertson stuck to his task well, after a shaky start, and all credit to the lad. ZE did great, and I thought Thompson was just massive. Would have loved him to get a try.
