We have one quality player to come in so if we have money available then spend it on two more high quality overseas players. What the club have done is chosen to recruit older seasoned players to steady the ship which maybe for 1 year contracts i could understand but two year deals for such average players is just another noose around the clubs neck for what they can do for 2026. Lack of pace is another huge concern. With such a slow backline line and halfbacks who also lack pace its another area of disjointed recruitment. Signing quality for me is the only way to go and that means spending money. The idea that in say two years we will have five or six of our younger players playing regularly in the first team is just a fantasy
I understand your points. But my point is that your fantasy is buying success. I think given the parlous state of rl Hull cannot throw money at players and must be financially prudent. Many fans granted are fickle and only want to see wins. I enjoyed the contest and improvement against Warrington. I enjoyed the contribution of the older guys and the enthusiasm of youth which with a modest scattering of world class players, and there may be a couple to come, is the format for me. Remember the Leeds game got 12000. I think they were pleased at our renaissance with hardly a superstar in sight .

Absolutely,if you have the money then buy success to put us back into the top four teams in S/L. its also much easier to delelop local talent into S/L players when playing in a top team surrounded by rerspected quality players. What we dont know is do the club have some real money coming in to enable them to do it?

Good news on Balmforth, would have preferred a longer one, but sounds like it was hos choice to try and earn a longer deal (and probably more lucrative).
No words from the current head coach, not really that bothered if Grix is here next year, something I don't like about him.

Too much of the Tinker in Grix Will have to pay him off if he goes which wouldnt surprise me. Maybe Cartwright wants Gaz Ellis to step up

Reading the comment from Myler regarding Balmforth, is completely opposite to Grix's opinion . It will be interesting to see, if there will be changes to the backroom staff.

The staff will discuss Balmforth from different view points. Grix is the one who has to iron out his deficiencies. It’s good the player wants to do this too. He looks to have oodles of potential. If he could get anywhere close to Cunningham we’re lucky. If he fails we have a youth conveyor belt or apparently lots of cash!

Grix not mentioned at all in the article about Balmforth. If it wasn’t for Hos and Myler stepping in,I think he would have gone as Grix seemed to pick him out for his chats in the wail.Like Dave K said, there is something about Grix and a couple of workmates don’t like him either, hopefully he will go at end of season back to the championship.

Do you think the relationship Grix has with Tony Smith maybe colours his views at all? As in the recent interview on SKY he was saying how he still asks Tony Smith for advice etc.
I imagine that once Cartwright arrives he will set his stall out very early, if he doesn't prior to his arrival, I get the feeling that it will be known he is the boss and there will be standards expected as well as other aspects everyone will have to meet. So whether Grix is here or not next season I think it's fair to say he will have clear instruction on what is required and his role. I would say that with it being reported Cartwright had a big influence on the decision to sign Balmforth demonstrates him being in charge even before he's arrived. Cartwright doesn't appear to be a Coach that suffers fools gladly and is a very well versed and knowledgeable Coach currently playing his trade at the highest level in the game of RL.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

What is it about Grix to dislike? He was thrown in at the deep end had to work with people he hadn’t signed up to do - staff and players and has helped the clubs early renaissance. For me that’s all positive. I guess it’s down to Cartwright wanting him or not. I think he deserves to stay. The players like him
