Seems our incoming coach has had some influence on retaining Balmforth, pretty pleased personally, and more importantly another thumbs up in the direction the club are heading in youth development.
I posted a few years back on the importance of producing our own players and it’s obvious sustainability, we actually need to get to a system when other clubs want our players, and be able to replace them from within.
We can have another look at Denieve next year, and with the addition of Amir, and the emergence of Hodgson and others it’s the right path.
As we have decided to not pursue the Papuan hooker, and according to the club a full back is being looked at, probably to replace the unlucky Jack Walker, which is a shame as Walker has never let us down.
Glad he's staying. Honestly expected he would leave and wouldn't have blamed him as he's coming to an age now where he needs to be playing more regularly. It's good to hear Cartwright has had a big input into the decision.
Does anybody think Houghton should be offered an off field role somewhere? I'm abit torn on it as he has never been the most dynamic, creative hooker, but his work off the ball has always been first class, and that's an area Balmforth has been mentioned as needing to improve. Houghton could be good for the development of Balmforth, Bourouh and Hodgson.

it would only be a part time thing at best for Houghton as I think he's set up a business.
Do get the feeling though that if it wasleft up to Grix he wouldn't be here next season.
Dont think Tinkering Tony or Grix rated him and couldnt get out of the Danny Houghton mode He is still only 20 so has a lot of time to develop other weaker aspects of his game. Looks like his last two perfomances have forced the club into acting. Left to Grix i dont think the club would have signed him
